Joint Entrance Examination Council Uttar Pradesh (JEECUP) has announced the exam dates of the Uttar Pradesh Joint Entrance Examination (UPJEE (P) – 2020). The exam will be held in the month of April on three dates.
It has been decided that the UP Polytechnic entrance exam will be held on April 26 to 28, 2020. Through the exam, admission will be done to 1,296 polytechnics in 67 programmes.
The polytechnic entrance exam is held for admission to different courses, and these different courses are categorized into groups by the name of A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K1 to K8.
For Group A, exam will be held on April 26, 2020. It will be held on offline from 9 am to 12 noon. Then for groups B to I and K1 to K8, the exams have been scheduled for April 26 to 28, 2020. They will be held online. For all the groups, JEECUP shall conduct the exams in all major districts of the state.
JEECUP shall release application forms for the entrance exam in the month of December. It will be an online form. There will be provision to pay fee in online mode itself.
The exam dates have been announced over the official website jeecup.nic.in. The official notification over there says,
“In accordance with the guidelines of the Joint Entrance Examination Council, UP, Lucknow All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi ensures admission proceedings in all the polytechnic institutions running in the state by conducting entrance examination at the state level and in class wise merit.
The applications for entrance examination for admission in various Engineering Diploma, Management and Post Diploma courses for the session 2020-21 will be available online from December 2019. Examination fees can also be deposited through online options. The Group A entrance exam for session 2020-21 will be in offline mode using OMR method on April 26, 2020 from 09.00 AM to 12.00 AM. The admission of other course groups (B to I and K1 to K8) will start computer-based online examination in the major districts of the state from the evening of April 26, 2020, whose detailed details and procedure will be made available soon. Based on the marks obtained in the entrance examination, merit will be prepared and allotment of 67 course seats will be allotted in about 1296 institutions through online counseling.”
Group A is engineering & technology diploma. Group B is agriculture engineering. Then group C is for fashion design, home science and textile design and engineering. The group D is for two programs namely modern office management & secretarial practice, library & information science. Then group E is diploma in pharmacy, group F is post graduate diploma in biotechnology (tissue culture), and group G is a post graduate diploma course. Group H is for diploma in hotel management and catering technology. Group I is for diploma in aircraft maintenance engineering. Then group K1 to K8 is for lateral entry in 2nd year of engineering & technology diploma courses.
Admission to polytechnics are done for some courses after class 10th, then for some class 12th pass is required. A few others require a graduation.
Last year the exam was initially supposed to be held on April 28 and 29. Then it was rescheduled to May 26 due to lok sabha elections. As a result the registration for the exam although had started on December 20, it went on until March 31. After the exam, result was announced on June 20.
