National Testing Agency (NTA) has today, March 14, 2022, issued an important notice announcing the revised dates for JEE Main 2022 session 1. The notice has been issued through the online mode, on the official website nta.ac.in, in the PDF format. Accordingly, the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2022 Session 1 will be held on April 21, 24, 25, 29, and May 01 and 04, 2022. Essentially, the exam has been postponed due to a clash with several state board exams 2022. To the delight of students, however, the first session has only been postponed by 5 days.
What does the notice say?
As per the official notice issued today, NTA has mentioned the following statement highlighting the need for rescheduling JEE Main 2022 session 1 –
In view of the persistent demand from the student community and in their support, National Testing Agency has decided to reschedule the dates of JEE (Main) – 2022 Session 1.
In view of JEE Main 2022 session 1 clashing with several board exams, students had approached the NTA requesting the latter for postponing the exam. The clash of dates is a serious issue, likely to hamper a candidate’s performance in both exams. So, invariably, NTA received representations from multiple candidates, requesting the postponement of session 1.
Another statement mentioned in the official notice is important to note –
Candidates may please note that the correction in the particulars of the Online Application Form will not be allowed once the Application Form is submitted.

JEE Main Application Form
Currently, NTA is conducting the JEE Main 2022 session 1 application process, on the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in. It is scheduled to end on March 31, 2022, at 11:30 pm, beyond which, candidates will not be able to apply. Furthermore, once submitted, candidates will not be able to make any changes in the form. So, it is important to fill the form with utmost care and vigilance.
Which board exams were clashing?
Previously, the JEE Main 2022 Session 1 was scheduled for April 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, and 21, 2022. Around the same time, several states are conducting their board exams including Goa, Jharkhand, and Andhra Pradesh. Following is a table summarising the exam dates for each education board –

To avoid the clash of exams, Telangana and Karnataka have rescheduled their respective Class 12 board exams 2022. Telangana shifted their exam from April 20, 2022, to April 22, 2022. Even West Bengal was contemplating on rescheduling its exams to a later date. However, with this new update by NTA, states might not have to change their board exam dates.
