As per news paper reports, online registration for Joint Entrance Examination (Main)-2020 will begin from September 02, 2019. The registration will start online, on jeemain.nic.in and the notification will be out by August 20, 2019.
The dates have been disclosed by Vineet Joshi, to Indian Express. Mr. Joshi is director-general of National Testing Agency (NTA), which the conducting body of JEE Main. Last year as well, the notice for released in the month of August and the application form was released on September 01, 2019.
Highlighting the changes in the national level engineering examination, director general told media that this year, JEE Main 2020 will be mandatory for foreign candidates seeking admission in NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. Other than this, no change has been informed in the examination. It will be held twice only, in the month of January and April 2020.
The candidates who have qualified their 10+2 exam in 2020 or will qualify the same in 2020, are eligible to apply for JEE Main 2020. There is no age limit to apply for JEE Main. However, the year of completing 10+2 is important. Only candidates who pass their class 12th or equivalent examination in the years 2018, 2019 and 2020 are allowed to sit in the exam. The candidate must have studied at least 5 subjects in their class 12th or equivalent examination.
The JEE Main 2020 Application Process includes registering at jeemain.nic.in, filling the application form, uploading the necessary scanned images of signature and recent passport-sized image, and finally submitting the application fee.
As per last year the application fee of JEE Main was Rs. 500/- for the General / OBC (NCL) candidates and Rs. 250/- for the SC/ST/ PwD/ Transgender and Female candidates. This fee was for the candidates who opted to appear fo one paper only. However, the candidates who opted to appear in both the papers of JEE Main 2020 had to pay Rs. 900/- (General / OBC) and Rs. 450/- (SC/ST/ PwD/ Transgender and Females).
The exam pattern if JEE Main was changed in the past year in terms of the mode of the exam only. The same will be followed this year too. The exam will be held in CBT mode and in multiple shifts and days. There will be 2 papers in the exam, paper 1 is for the B.E/B.Tech candidtaes and the paper 2 for the B.Arch and B.Plan candidates. The total marks in papers will be 360. Each correct answer will get the candidates 4 marks and for each wrong answer, the candidates will be penalized of 1 marks.
JEE Main is a national level engineering etrance exam. Every year around 11 lakh candidates appear for the exam. Out of these 11 lakh candidates, about 2 lakhs are selected for the next level of the exam that is JEE Advanced for admission in the IITs. The candidates who qualify JEE Main, can take admission in the NITs, CFTIs, IIITs and other privated institutes of the nation. The exam is conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) that came into existence in 2019.
