Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IAT) has announced that the Aptitude Test for admission to BS-MS degree course will be conducted in mid-August or afterwards. The Institute has announced the tentative IISER IAT 2021 exam date on the official website. IISER is yet to release the official notification of the IISER Aptitude Test 2021 on the official website iiseradmission.in.
A 5 year Dual Degree Program for science students, Bachelor of Science-Master of Science is offered by the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research. IISER conducts an entrance exam called the IISER Aptitude Test or IAT. IAT is conducted every year for admission to BS-MS seats. In 2018 and 2019, the exam was consistently conducted in June. However, the schedule of the exam was disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic that hit India earlier last year.
The Institute has now commented on the 2021 exam dates of the IAT. A notice on the homepage of the official website reads “Due to the current pandemic situation, the date of the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) has not been finalised yet“. IISER is expected to release the official information brochure and other details of the Aptitude Test on the website iiseradmission.in.
IISER has however indicated the expected time of conducting the exam. The official notice reads that “The test is tentatively scheduled to be held in mid-August or later“. Candidates are advised to commence their preparation under assumption that the exam will be conducted in mid-August. The Institute will release the revised exam dates in advance.
Admission to BS-MS program of IISER is conducted through three channels namely through Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY), Joint Entrance Examination (JEE-Advanced) of the Indian Institutes of Technology and State and Central Boards Channel (SCB). Those who apply for admission through SCB have to appear in the IISER Aptitude Test for admission to BS-MS degree courses.
Interested candidates may note that the the application portal will open in the first week of June for those who are seeking admission through KVPY and SCB channels this year. On the other hand, candidates intending to get admission through IIT-JEE (Advanced) channel have to wait till the results of JEE (Advanced) 2021 are out.
The minimum eligibility to appear in the IAT for admission through SCB is Class 12 pass with at least 60% marks for General candidates (55% for reserved category). Candidates have been advised by IISER to remain vigilant and refer to the official website iiseradmission.in for latest updates regarding IISER IAT 2021.
