Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) took to Twitter on Monday, April 26, 2021, to announce the extension of the deadline for waiving the condonation fees. Subsequently, the last date has been rescheduled from March 31, 2021, to June 30, 2021. According to the official announcement published on icai.org, ICAI has observed that certain students are facing issues while filling the online application form to pursue various activities. These issues are arising due to the COVID-19 pandemic and surge in the number of cases. Thus, while extending the deadline, transactions between April 01, 2021, and June 30, 2021, shall also be considered.
The second wave of coronavirus is adversely affecting the academics of students who are still suffering from the aftermath of the first wave. Due to current circumstances, various students are facing hurdles in filling the online application forms for various activities.
The activities include filling the Form 102/103 to register for articleship because of the inadequate availability of non-judicial stamp papers to carry out the articleship activity. Candidates are also finding it difficult to fill the form 112 requesting permission to pursue other courses because of educational institutions being closed. These hurdles are also causing a delay in the submission of online application forms requesting a levy of Condonation fees.
ICAI acknowledged all these difficulties faced by candidates and thus, decided to extend the deadline for waiving-off the Condonation fees. Previously, the last date to apply for levy was March 31, 2021. However, the date has been further extended to June 30, 2021, giving candidates an extra two months to submit the application form.
The official announcement further clarified that all transactions carried out between April 01, 2021, and June 30, 2021, shall be considered as well. This timeline is inclusive of the prescribed period of one month that ICAI generally provides.
In other news, ICAI is going to conduct the CA Foundation 2021 examination on June 24, 26, 28 and 30, 2021. Registration for the same has already begun on the official website icai.org. Interested candidates can apply for the exam on or before May 04, 2021.
Previously, Dhiraj Khandelwal, the CCM of ICAI stated that the institute is aware of the current COVID-19 crisis happening in the country. Subsequently, appropriate decision shall be taken on the issue by the end of April 2021.
Various national-level entrance exams and board exams have been postponed due to the ongoing pandemic. Multiple state governments have even cancelled the Class 10 board exams due to the prevailing conditions. Hence, it is expected that ICAI may postpone the CA Foundation 2021 exam to a later date.
