Directorate of Technical Education, Goa has postponed the exam dates of GCET 2021. DTE Goa has issued a latest public notice at the official website dte.goa.gov.in (see the notice below). As per the notice, the examination is scheduled to be conducted in mid-June 2021. Earlier, GCET 2021 was scheduled to be conducted on May 04 & 05, 2021.
The notice reads “Dates and procedure for submission of application forms for GCET 2021 shall be notified by 1st May, 2021”. As such, aspiring candidates can now expect DTE Goa to commence online registrations for the state level entrance examination on or after May 01, 2021 at dte.goa.gov.in.

DTE Goa has also stated in the notice that the exact date of GCET 2021 is to be declared by June 01, 2021. Furthermore, DTE Goa has also indicated in the notice that the prospectus for admission to 2021 academic session is to be notified in March 2021. Aspiring candidates will be able to check the latest information about the 2021 exam related to eligibility criteria, course, seat availability, admission rounds, merit criteria and other rules & regulations of GCET 2021. GCET 2021 is conducted by the Directorate once a year for admission to Bachelor of Engineering & Bachelor of Pharmacy programs in Government, Government-Aided and Un-Aided institutes of the state of Goa.
It may be noted that earlier, Vellore Institute of Technology also postponed the exam dates of VIT Engineering Entrance Examination to mid-June 2021. VITEEE 2021, conducted for admission to Undergraduate Engineering degree programs is scheduled to be held from June 18 to 26, 2021. The reason behind such a decision is the delayed schedule of 2021 Board Exams. Most secondary education boards are going to conduct the Board exams in April/May 2021. Since the minimum eligibility criteria for appearing in almost all UG Engineering Entrance Exams in India is a 10+2 qualification, thus, institutes conducting admission on the basis of such Entrance Tests have no other option but to postpone the entrance exams.
Based on the previous iterations of the GCET exam, the minimum educational qualification required to appear in the test for admission to BE and B.Pharm programs is Class 12th pass with 45% marks in Physics & Mathematics and another optional science subject. Candidates can expect the exact details of eligibility criteria for admission through GCET 2021 to be indicated in the admission prospectus.
The GCET exam is conventionally conducted as an offline test in centres across the state of Goa. The paper is based on the subjects of Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics as per the Class 12th syllabus prescribed by the Goa Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education. Aspiring candidates are advised to check the official website of DTE, Goa from time to time for further updates and announcements regarding GCET 2021.
