Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) has postponed class 10th (SSC) and Class 12 (HSC) exams 2021 until further notice. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant confirming the same further added that the board will inform about the new exam dates 15 days in advance before the commencement of the examination. As per the schedule released earlier, Goa Board 10, 12 exams 2021 were going to commence from April 24, 2021.
Last week, opposition parties in Goa demanded the board to either postpone class 10th and 12th exams or conduct the examinations online in view of the current pandemic situation. Moreover, Senior Congress leader Digambar Kamat, Goa Forward Party chief Vijai Sardesai and Independent MLA Rohan Khaunte said that the Pramod Sawant government must postpone these examinations for the safety of students.

The students of Goa schools have also been demanding the authorities to either postpone or cancel board exams in the state. Now, considering the requests and the rising cases, the Goa government finally postponed the class 10th and class 12th board exams 2021. The State government will conduct the exams when the COVID-19 situation in the state will improve.
Amidst the unprecedented rise in the number of COVID-19 cases, several national and state boards have cancelled or postponed the class 10th and 12th board exams. Most have announced that they will hold a meeting in the first week of June for reviewing the COVID situation in their respective states. Hence, it can be expected that Goa Board shall conduct the class 10, 12 exams in the month of June or July.

In view of the second wave of COVID, schools, colleges, and educational institutions in Goa have been closed down till April 30, 2021.
Apart from Goa, several states and UTs including Delhi, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Jharkhand, Rajasthan and Punjab have also rescheduled the board examinations in their respective states in wake of the resurgence in coronavirus cases.
