State Government of Manipur took to Twitter on Monday, April 19, 2021, to announce the postponement of Class 10 and 12 state board exams 2021. New dates shall be announced after reviewing the COVID-19 situation in the state. Furthermore, physical classes for standards 9 to 12 are suspended and online classes shall begin immediately. The government also announced the closure of coaching institutes and private tuitions immediately until further instructions. Online classes for classes 8 and below shall continue in the state as before.
India is currently experiencing the second wave of coronavirus along with a significant surge of cases every day. Amid this crisis, most central and state education boards have cancelled or postponed the Class 10 boards exams. Class 12 board exams have also been postponed and shall be scheduled after reviewing the situation.
Taking the COVID-19 pandemic into consideration, the Manipur state government announced the postponement of Class 10 and 12 boards exams. HSCLE 2021 and HSE 2021 which are being organised by BoSEM and CoHSEM shall be scheduled at a later date. Apart from the closure of schools and resumption of online classes, the state has ordered the closure of coaching institutes, hostels in schools and private hostels.
Ranjit Singh, Commissioner (Education-S) of Manipur issued the postponement order on Monday, April 19, 2021. He further stated that the government decided to postpone exams after considering the severity of the continuously increasing COVID-19 cases. The impending threat caused by the pandemic is also undeniable.
Schools in Manipur were shut in March 2021 due to the national-wide lockdown imposed in the country to tackle the virus. These schools were permitted to reopen on January 27, 2021, for classes 11 and 12. However, the recently issued order stated that physical lectures for these classes shall be suspended with immediate effect. Moreover, online classes shall resume as soon as possible.
The Manipur State Board Exams 2021 for Class 10 and 12 were scheduled to commence from May 05, 2021. A revised schedule shall be issued by the concerned authorities once the situation stabilises. A similar decision has been taken by central boards like CBSE and CISCE.
Recently, the Delhi government announced the preponement of summer vacation and the subsequent closure of all educational institutions. Thus, the summer vacation has been preponed and now begins from April 20, 2021, instead of May 11, 2021. This vacation shall extend up to June 09, 2021, after which the new academic 2021-22 shall begin.
Delhi government also issued a fresh order on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, announcing that all online and semi-online teaching activities shall be suspended during the summer vacation. This order was specifically directed towards private schools to prevent them from organising any online lectures from April 20, 2021, to June 09, 2021.
