The official notification for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering 2022 (GATE) will be released soon. Last year, the GATE 2021 was organised by IIT Bombay. In a tweet, IIT Bombay announced that they handed over the responsibility of GATE 2022 to the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. So, this time, GATE 2022 will be conducted by IIT, Kharagpur. As per the data of the past two years, it is believed that the application forms will be released on July 25, 2021, tentatively.
Last year, the notification for GATE 2021 was released on the last Sunday of July month i.e. on July 26, 2020. In 2019 the notification was released on July 09, whereas in 2018, it came out on July 16. Considering the past trend, we are expecting that the notification for GATE 2022 will be released tomorrow i.e. on July 25, 2021 as it is the last Sunday of July 2022.
Once the GATE 2022 application form is released, candidates can fill it through online mode by paying the application fee. To get eligible to apply for GATE 2022, candidates should be in the 3rd year or the final year of any engineering stream. Candidates who have graduated can also apply for GATE 2022. There is no limit for the attempts of the GATE exam but the validity of the GATE scorecard is 3 years from the date of issue of the scorecard.
GATE 2022 will be held in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. The exam will be conducted in eight zones of IITs (Delhi, Madras, Bombay, Roorkee, Kharagpur, Guwahati, and Kanpur) and IISc Bangalore. The exam will consist of 65 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) of 100 marks. Among 65 questions, some questions will have 1 mark and some will have 2 marks. For every correct answer, candidates will get full marks but for every wrong answer of 1 mark questions, 1/3rd marks will be deducted whereas 2/3rd marks will be deducted for the wrong answer of every 2 marks question. There are a total of 10 questions of General Aptitude for every paper and the remaining 55 questions will be from respective subjects.
Earlier, Nishank Pokhriyal, the former Union Education Minister of Government of India has said that two new papers will be added from GATE 2022. These two new papers are Geomatics Engineering and Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering. So, these two new papers will make the total numbers of GATE 2022 papers to 29. From last year, two new papers of subjects Humanities & Social Science and Environmental Science & Engineering were also added.
Upon qualifying GATE 2022, candidates can get admission to various M.Tech programs at reputed institutes such as IITs, NITs, IISc Bangalore, etc. To get eligible to apply for the M.Tech admissions, candidates should have a valid GATE score card. Also, GATE qualified candidates can apply for various PSU jobs. To get more details about GATE 2022, candidates have to wait for the release of its official notification.
