The last date to register for GATE 2021 is in five days i.e. September 30, 2020. However this is the last date to apply with normal fees. IIT Bombay, the organizing body for this year’s GATE exam will be providing an extended period as well.
An extra week to register for GATE 2021 during extended period
Extended period for GATE 2021 registration refers to the seven extra days that candidates will get from October 1 to 7 to apply. While this gives them another chance to enter their candidature for the exam, they will have to pay additional fee for the same.

Under the regular registration period, that is the one that ends on the upcoming Wednesday, the fee for females / SC / ST / PWD, and others are respectively Rs 750, and Rs 1500. Then under the extended period an additional amount of Rs 500 shall be charged. Therefore the respective fee amounts shall be Rs 1250, and Rs 2000. The fee amount stands per paper, and does not include peripheral charges.
502 Bad Gateway Error in Some Cases, But Under Control
A handful of registrants are encountering 502 bad gateway error at the GATE 2021 candidate login which goes by the name of GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS). Nevertheless it is not a widespread issue at the moment, and most are able to move past it by refreshing or trying to log in again.

This time, in view of the global pandemic, IITB has relaxed the eligibility criteria for GATE. Those who are currently in third year or higher years of undergraduate, as well as those who have already completed degree programs in engineering, technology, architecture, science, commerce, arts are eligible to appear in the exam.
After the last date of registration, IITB shall open the facility for form correction from November 13. Thereafter the admit cards shall be released on January 8, 2021. The exam dates for GATE 2021 are tentatively scheduled to be February 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, and 14, 2021. Completely disclosing the schedule of GATE exam IITB has further notified that the results shall be out on March 22, 2021.
GATE 2021 is the national level exam whose scores are used for admission to Masters and Doctoral programs in engineering, technology, architecture, as well as doctoral programs in selective arts and science courses. Besides, a number of PSUs use GATE scores that are valid for 3 years for recruitment. A total of 8.6 lakh candidates had applied in the previous instalment of GATE.
