GATE 2020 Schedule Announced, Check Branch Wise Exam Dates Here

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2020 will be held on 4 days, in 8 shifts.

GATE 2020 Schedule

IIT Delhi has published the GATE 2020 exam schedule, detailing branch wise exam dates. For all the four exam dates, which subject paper will be held in which shift has been announced now, at gate.iitd.ac.in under the heading “View GATE 2020 Examination Schedule”.

On each of the days, exams will be held in two shifts or sessions. First one will be called the forenoon session, and its timings will be 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Second shift will be the afternoon session, whose timings will be 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM.

Day 1 is Saturday, February 1, 2020. IN, ME1, MT, PE, PH papers will be held in shift 1. CY, ME2, PI will be held in shift 2. 

Day 2 is Sunday, February 2, 2020. Shift 1 papers are AR, BM, BT, CH, MA, MN, ST, XE, XL. Shift 2 papers are AE, AG, EC, GG.

Day 3 is Saturday, February 8, 2020. EE, EY, TF papers will be held in shift 1. CS will be conducted in shift 2. 

Day 4 is February 9, 2020. CE1 will be held in shift 1, and CE2 in shift 2.

Aerospace Engineering is AE, Instrumentation Engineering is IN, and Agricultural Engineering is referred to as AG. Then Mathematics paper code is MA, Architecture and Planning is AR, Mechanical Engineering is ME. After that Bio-medical Engineering code is BM, Mining Engineering is MN, and Biotechnology is BT. Then Metallurgical Engineering is MT, Civil Engineering is CE, Petroleum Engineering is PE.

Chemical Engineering paper code is CH, Physics is PH, Computer Science and Information Technology is CS. Then Production and Industrial Engineering is PI, Chemistry is CY, and Statistics is ST. Code for Electronics and Communication Engineering is EC, Textile Engineering and Fibre Science is TF, Electrical Engineering is EE.

Engineering Sciences is XE. Ecology and Evolution is EY. Life Sciences is XL. Finally Geology and Geophysics is GG.

IIT Delhi will release GATE 2020 admit card for all the exam dates, all branches, on January 3, 2020. The admit card will be made available for download at GOAPS, appsgate.iitd.ac.in. 

Candidates who have applied for such subjects which will be held in more than one day or shift, will get to know the date and shift assigned through their admit cards only. There is no separate provision for selecting exam date or slot. 

This time the exam date branch wise for GATE exam has been released quite early. Last year the schedule was published on December 26.

Meanwhile, IITD has also released mock test for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, available at gate.iitd.ac.in. 

GATE is the national level entrance exam for admission to ME/M.Tech, integrated PhD programs in IITs. NITs, CFTIs and several other engineering, science and technology colleges also accept GATE scores, that remain valid for 3 years, for PG admissions. Besides, PSU recruitment through GATE 2020 have also been announced by several public sector enterprises.
