GATE 2019 Application Form Last Date Extended To 23 September 2018, 6 PM; Correction Starts At Login From 24 September

GATE 2019 Application Form Date Extended

IIT Madras has decided to extend the last date for GATE 2019 registration to September 23, 2018, 6 PM. Starting from Monday, aspirants will still be able to apply, albeit by paying a late fee.

Ultimately the application form submission shall close at GOAPS (appsgate.iitm.ac.in) on October 01, 2018. It is advisable that candidates not wait for last minute but apply early. The notice has been published at official website of GATE 2019.

The application Closing Date is extended to September 23, 2018 (Sunday) 18:00 hrs.

Those who apply by September 23, 2018, have to pay normal fee that is Rs 750 for SC / ST / PwD / female candidates, Rs 1500 for others. Thereafter late fee will respectively be Rs 1250 and Rs 2000.

Candidates who will appear for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2019 at centres outside India will pay a different. USD 50 is applicable for Addis Ababa, Colombo, Dhaka & Kathmandu, and for them late fee is USD 70. USD 100 is fee for Dubai and Singapore, their late fee being USD 120.

Applicants can also login to appsgate.iitm.ac.in to check their application status. Status may be any one of Received, Under scrutiny, Accepted, Defect status, Status after rectification, Rejected with valid reasons.

IIT Madras clarifies that Under Scrutiny means that form is being checked. It is not a cause of concern. This status may be shown even after application portal closes.

If the status of your application is “Under Scrutiny”. You need not worry. Wait till the scrutiny team process your application. Only those candidates whose applications need to be rectified in photo/signature/supporting documents, will be contacted by email and SMS. The scrutiny process will continue even after the application portal is closed.

The GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) is a one stop login for GATE 2019 for all intents and purposes. It is used for actions starting from being able to apply online through it, to checking status, making corrections, downloading admit cards, viewing answers marked, to checking result.

GOAPS aka GATE 2019 login is active at appsgate.iitm.ac.in. Whereas all notifications are being published by IITM at gate.iitm.ac.in.

On one hand the application process is ongoing. And on the other hand, form correction is about to begin. As per the recently released notification on “Correction concerning entry made in the GATE 2019 application form”, candidates will be able to make corrections in name and date of birth between September 24 to October 1, 2018.

Other corrections that can be made during this period are in details of parents / guardians, correspondence address, college name and location / roll number / registration number.

IIT Madras shall also allow corrections in exam paper, for which an extra fee amount will have to be paid. Date for form correction for other details such as gender, category, PWD status, dyslexia and other learning disabilities will be announced later.

GATE 2019 is scheduled to be held on February 2, 3, 9, 10, 2019. GATE is the national level entrance exam for admission to Masters programs in engineering and technology. Whereas it is primarily held by the IITs and IISc, other colleges including NITs, IIITs, CFTIs also make use of GATE result for admissions. The Indian PSUs also utilize GATE score only for the purpose of recruitment. Thus GATE draws applications from those who wish to pursue higher studies as well as government job aspirants. It is reported that around 7,81,854 candidates had appeared in GATE exam last year.
