IIT Guwahati has announced GATE 2018 Result on March 16, 2018, at 2.45 PM. As predicted, the result of GATE 2018 has been declared on day early. Now candidates can login to GOAPS to check GATE Result and know their scores. Right now score has been revealed accompanied by cut off marks and rank.
The exam was held on February 3, 4, 10, 11. On these four dates, 23 papers were organized, in two sessions on each day. For two papers namely for Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, tests were held in two sessions. For such exams, scores are normalized.

Candidates can know their raw score in GATE 2018, normalized score if their paper was held in multiple sessions, and also All India Rank. Those who had used various GATE rank predictor tools lately are heavily disappointed. They claim that their actual ranks are much lower than predicted ranks.
The cut off for Computer Science is 25 for General, and 22.5 for OBC, and 16.60 for SC/ST/PH which is exactly same as last year. Cut off for Civil Engineering is 26.90 for general, 24.20 for OBC, 17.9 for SC/ST/PH. Cut off for Mechanical Engineering has been 34.7 for general, 31.2 for OBC, 23.1 for SC/ST/PH. For Electronics and Communication Engineering, cut off is 25 for general, 22.5 for OBC, and 16.6 for SC/ST/PH. For Chemical Engineering, cut offs are 37.8 for general, 34 for OBC, and 25.1 for SC/ST/PH. For Agricultural Engineering, cut offs are 25 for general, 22.5 for obc, 16.6 for SC/ST/PH. For Instrumentation Engineering, cut offs are 37 for general, 33.3 for OBC, and 24.7 for SC/ST/PH. As can be seen, prediction for cut offs have remained true at least.
Cut offs for mechanical engineering have gone quite high, but this was expected only as there are largest number of test takers in Mechanical engineering. the next most sought after stream is civil engineering. reason behind their popularity is vastly their being core streams in demand in Public Sector Undertakings.
Even though everyone was anticipating, GATE 2018 Result declaration today only, since there was no fixed time, a lot of flutter was caused as soon as result actually got announced. Nearly 10 lakh candidates had appeared in the exam. a large number of them have been trying to visit the website right now which is causing the website to slow down.
So candidates are urged to not panic if they are not able to login at once. If website does not open, refresh the page and try again in some time.
After GATE 2018 result announced, candidates have to decide whether they want to get M.Tech admission in IITs, IIITs, NITs, or other colleges, or whether they want to opt for PSU recruitment through GATE 2018.
