Last year, the University of Delhi receive a total of 278,544 candidates applied. The officials attributed the “drop” due to the new system for registration, whereas, others pointed to the DU’s loss of rank in the national institutional ranking framework (NIRF) and delay and confusion in the admission process.
The students are offered admission in DU UG courses by two modes – Merit-based or entrance exam based. The first cut off list for DU UG merit-based admission is going to release on June 28, 2019. St. Stephens has already released the cut off list, where it demanded more than 95% for admission in all courses.
It is expected that the overall cut off for various courses at the Delhi Univesity shall go higher by up to one per cent as compared to last year. One of the important reason behind it is the rise in 95 per cent scorers in the Central Board of Secondary Examinations (CBSE) class 12 board exams. Further, the maximum number of applicants are from CBSE board, which are, 205434, followed by UP Board by 8,755 applications.
As per the data provided by CBSE, 94,299 (38.4 per cent) students who appeared for the CBSE class 12 exams scored 90 per cent. The experts have also hinted that the cut off for DU admission 2019 shall rise mildly only somewhere between 0.25 to 0.75 per cent. However, any marginal rise can also make a significant difference as there are lakhs of applicants for thousands of seats.
The DU entrance test 2019 (DUET) is scheduled to be held from July 03 to 08, 2019 for UG, PG, MPhil and PhD courses.
