The national board of examination has issued a notice with the subject line – “Subsuming of DNB-CETSS & FET into NEET-SS “. This notice clearly states that from the admission year 2019 onwards, the merit list of NEET-SS shall be utilized for filling of DNB Super specialty seats also besides DM/MCh seats. In addition to that, The merit list of NEET-SS shall also be utilised for admission to NBE Fellowship courses.

Thus apart from just using NEET-SS scores for DM/MCh admissions, the scores will be also used for filling of DNB Super specialty seats and NBE Fellowship admission. In all from 2019 NEET-SS scores will be the only deciding factor for admissions in DM/MCh, DNB Super Specialty courses, and NBE Fellowship.

Previously until 2018, NBE has been conducting DNB-CETSS in December /January every year for admission to DNB Super Specialty courses. Plus, the entrance examination for admission to NBE Fellowship courses – FET was also being conducted. Now, NBE will only conduct one exam which is NEET-SS. Both DNB-CETSS and FET is being scrapped.

The NEET-SS is an eligibility cum ranking examination. As per the Medical Council of India (MCI), NEET SS is mandatory to take admission in DM/MCh courses in any medical college of the nation. From 2019 onwards, this will be applicable for DNB Super Specialty admission and NBE Fellowship admissions.

The NEET-SS 2019 exam for DM/MCh admission is scheduled to be conducted in the month of July 2019. However, with these changes there can be major changes in the exam dates. Thus, candidates are to stay updated for any changes form NBE in this regard.

To appear in NEET-SS 2019 for admissions in DM/MCh courses candidates must have a post graduate medical degree (MD/MS/DNB) or Provisional Pass Certificate or a qualification equivalent to it. The exam is conducted in mode and in single shift until now. the shifts might increase after the introduction of new changes.
