Only yesterday, March 21, 2022, the University Grants Commission (UGC) issued an important public notice regarding the CUET 2022 examination. The notice was issued through the online mode, on the official website nta.ac.in. Accordingly, the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) 2022 shall be held in 13 distinct languages by the national Testing Agency (NTA).
Application process for the test shall commence from the first week of April 2022. However, the notice did not touch upon the exam date, leaving candidates clueless about the exam schedule. To their delight however, the UGC chairmain clarified certain aspects of the exam, ahead of application form release.
CUET 2022 Exam date & Application Form
As per the UGC chairman M Jagadesh Kumar, the CUET 2022 examination shall be conducted in the first week of July 2022. It will be held in the computer-based format, at selected centres across the country. Furthermore, as many as 45 central universities have shall be participating in the admission process for UG and PG programmes.
Along with the release of CUET 2022 application form, NTA will also be releasing the information brochure. This brochure shall specify important details like eligibility criteria, exam pattern, syllabus, etc. It may also specify the exact date for admission conduction. Since the information brochure will release on nta.ac.in, candidates must visit this portal to keep track of latest developments.
Mandatory Exam for UG & PG Admission
CUET 2022 is the first-ever mandatory entrance exam for admission to central universities. This exam is applicable for admission to both UG and PG programmes. Of course, the eligibility criteria and syllabus for entrance exam shall differ based on stream or specialty subject chosen by each candidate.
For instance, in case of UG admission, only a candidate’s performance in the CUET 2022 examination will be taken into consideration. The Class 12 marks may only be considered for deeming a student eligible to appear for the exam. A similar clause will be applicable in case of PG courses. So, those interested in seeking admission in central universities are advised to start preparing for the upcoming exam.
Public Notice Issued by UGC
The recently-issued public notice by UGC clarified two things – 1. Conduction of CUET 2022 in 13 languages and 2. Adoption of exam by other universities. In case of former, NTA has planned on conducting the test in English, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Urdu, Assamese, Punjabi, Bengali and Odia.
The CUCET 2022 examination is primarily for admission to central universities. However, this exam can also be considered by state, deemed and private universities for their admission process.
