District Office Jagatsinghpur, Odisha is inviting applications from eligible and intending candidates to fill up vacancies for the post of Launch Driver and Khalasi. The posts are temporary in nature and an official recruitment notice detailing the terms and conditions of recruitment is available at the official district website i.e. jagatsinghpur.nic.in. Applications made on the prescribed proforma along with necessary supporting documents must reach the Collectorate on or before 18 August by 05.00 PM.
As per the recruitment notification, there are 06 vacancies available for the post of Launch Driver and 09 vacancies available for the post of Boat Khalasi. All of the posts are to be filled up on a temporary basis. The validity of the posts is only up to November 30, 2020. Appointed candidates are entitled to receive consolidated monthly remuneration during the employment term. Temporary Launch Drivers are entitled to a monthly consolidated remuneration of Rs 8850. Temporary Khalasis are entitled to a consolidated monthly payment of Rs 8070. Candidates are not entitled to Dearness Allowance or any other allowance for the services. In addition, being temporary posts, candidates have to give undertaking in writing that they will not claim for permanent employment in future.
Only Indian citizens, preferably those who have already worked in the aforementioned posts engaged by SPEO/AME (SPEO) Collector, Jagatsinghpur are eligible to apply. Candidates who are domiciled in the district are also given preference. The minimum age of the applicant must be 18 years while no candidate must be above the age of 32 years. Relaxations on the upper age are however applicable for candidates belonging to special reserved categories. The knowledge of Odia language is an important eligibility condition. Candidates must be able to swim in rivers and canals for 20 minutes continuously.
Candidates must have studied the language as a subject in middle school, matriculation (with Odia as a medium of exam in non-language subjects), as a subject in Class VII or above. Those who have passed a test in Odia in Middle English School standard conducted by School and Mass Education Department are also eligible to apply. The minimum educational qualification is Class 7 pass as per the syllabus of the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha. In order to apply for the post of Khalasi, candidates must have training obtained from Crew Training Institute while for the post of Launch Driver, a second class Launch Driving Certificate is necessary.
Candidates are expected to be physically and mentally fit to assume their duties in the aforementioned job roles. They must be free from any physical defects that can affect their competence to deliver services in their job roles. In this context, applicants have to submit a fitness certificate issued by Government Medical practitioner.
The proforma of the application form is appended with the official recruitment notification and must be downloaded from the official district website mentioned above. Completely filled up applications must be forwarded to the Collector, Jagatsinghpur (Emergency Station), Collectorate, PIN 754103 so as to reach on time.
