National Testing Agency has for the first time ever given the option to candidates to change exam centre. Up until now, exam cities was one of the few things that remained untouchable once form was submitted. However the situation today is by no counts normal, and hence deviation from the normal has happened. Candidates who had applied for the JEE Main April 2020 exam can now login at jeemain.nta.nic.in to change the exam city preferences. They can enter upto three choices in order of preference.
Whereas the form correction window was already open when the notice on this new facility came yesterday. Thus candidates can now make changes to all fields in the form, and where required, pay additional fee online. Last date to make corrections in form is April 14, 2020. Corrections will be accepted until 5 pm, and fee against it will be taken until 11.50 pm.
To change exam centre or to do any other correction in the application form, candidates need to visit the official website of JEE Main 2020, jeemain.nta.nic.in. Follow the link that says “Application Form Correction for JEE(Main) April -2020”. Then on the login window enter the application number and password to access the form correction and exam city change facility.
The application form correction facility for JEE Main 2020 commenced on April 01, 2020, again. This time the facility was started due to the hardships faced by the students in the COVID-19 pandemic. The form correction facility started then, allowed the students to make corrections in all the details in the form, but not in exam city choices.
However, with lockdowns in the nation and many states planning to extend their lockdowns, the exam city choices might now get affected. Several factors may now come into play which can put the choice of exam city in a dilemma for the students. Therefore, on April 9, 2020, NTA released a public notice again to increase the scope of application form correction to exam states and city choices too.
The notice read:
“In continuation of PUBLIC NOTICE dated 01.04.2020 issued by National Testing Agency regarding correction facility in the Online Application Form for JEE (Main) 2020, it is further notified that in view of the hardships faced by the aspirant of JEE (Main) 2020 due to COVID-19 epidemic, the NTA has further expanded the scope of making corrections in the Application Forms to now also include the choice of cities for centre.”
In the application form correction process, the candidates can thus now edit all the details with no exceptions. The editing and submission of details must be done by 5 pm on April 14, 2020. However, the correction fee is applicable, must be remitted by 11:50 pm on the deadline day.
The details that can be changed are the name of the candidate, date of birth, gender, father’s name, mother’ name, nationality, state code of eligibility, category, PWD status, the medium of instruction in class 11 / 12, and mode of preparation.
Also, students are allowed to change the paper choice of JEE Main 2020. They can choose to appear for any 1 paper, any 2 paper or all 3 papers.
Next, fields that can now be edited is the exam city choice field. The state and the city of the exam can be modified. The 4 choices must be given in the order of preference.
Other details that can also be edited in the application form correction are medium of attempting JEE Main 2020, class 10 and 12 education details, contact details, and parent’s income details.
Also, students can make changes in the uploaded scanned images of photograph, signature and class 12th admit Card / marksheet / certificate.
JEE Main is a national level engineering entrance exam for admission in B.E / B.Tech / B.Arch / B.Plan courses offered at NITs, IIITs, CFTIs and other institutes of the nation. The second attempt of JEE Main 2020 was scheduled to be held in near about 233 cities in India and abroad on April 05, 07, 08, 09, 11, 2020 which now stands postponed due to COVID-19 pandemic.
NTA had, however, announced that the new exam dates of JEE Main 2020 second attempt will be announced in the 4th week of March 2020 and the admit card will be allotted after April 15, 2020, on analysing the COVID 19 situation.
The exam center is allotted to the candidates via the admit card of JEE Main only. Therefore with NTA allowing the candidate to change the city choices until April 14, 2020, there will be a considerate delay in the release of admit card.
The first attempt of JEE Main 2020 was successfully held on January 06, 07, 08, 09, 2020 in 2 shifts each day. 9,21,261 candidates took the B.E / B.Tech paper in the first test.
This year the top 2.5 lakh candidates of JEE Main 2020 will be eligible to apply for JEE Advanced 2020, which has been also postponed until any further notice. The All India Ranks of the candidates in JEE main 2020 will be available with the result declaration of the second attempt, based on the scores of both tests.
