The pandemic hasn’t been over yet and neither has the distress of the lakhs of board exam students. Soon after the third wave of COVID-19 started to subside, the schools started to reopen for offline classes. In some places, the schools have started taking classes in the hybrid mode. On top of that, the board exams are imminent and the student community has started putting forward certain demands. However, this time, the demands seem to have reached the Prime Minister whereby the students now seek for a cancellation of the board exams.
Cancel Board Exams 2022: The Backstory
When the pandemic started in 2020, offline classes were completely shut in the schools and a new mode of teaching and learning emerged, which is the online mode. Online classes have continued in the schools for more than 1.5 years. However, students now claim that this has impacted the quality of learning due to which their preparation has not remained up to the mark.

Education boards like CBSE and CISCE who are following the semester or dual term mode of holding the board exams have already conducted the first term. As of now, the second term of the board exams of these boards and the final exams of many state boards will be held in the upcoming months. Students have already claimed that their preparation has not been complete. So, they suggest that if the exams cannot be cancelled then they should be postponed.

Alternatives
The online demands that the students have been making are mostly aimed at the cancellation of board exams. However, some seem to be have come up with alternatives. If the board exams are not cancelled, then they should be held in online mode. According to the tweets, the syllabus for the exam is yet to be completed while whatever has been taught, has remained unclear to them. As such, in a situation like this, the best to do would be to take online exams.

Students now seem to expect ‘justice’ from the Supreme Court of India in relation to the demands for the cancellation of board exams. During the pandemic which is still going on, the amount of stress among the students has increased manifold. There arose various problems due to which the students could not study well. Even now, mental stress is reported to be high. For them, Prime Minister is the ‘last hope’ and hence, they have taken to Twitter to voice their concerns.
