It has been almost 18 years since I left my school with a mindset to walk on different and difficult paths. I have come this far and this is only because I had my beginning with the best teachers of my life specially Mr. Bharat Nagpal (Hostel Warden). On this Teacher’s Day I want to Thank Mr. Bharat Nagpal who used to take the time out from his busy schedule so that he can sit with us and taught us the importance of life. At the age of 11, I was shifted to a hostel and I moved from a comfortable life at home and away from loved ones. That is where I met this person (Mr. Bharat Nagpal) and initially I used to hate him. The reason was when I was shifted to the hostel and my parents were leaving, he locked my door from outside and I couldn’t say goodbye to my parents. But as my time passed in the hostel and when he used to take the counselling sessions in the evening every day. We all used to share our day to day story. He always listened to us and motivated us to move forward. He taught us a very important lesson that “no matter what happens, never stop yourself and don’t limit yourself”.
If I relate this to my present life and I always think how hard life can come to us, the parents and teacher like Mr. Bharat Nagpal has taught us to stay strong and keep fighting. He retired in 2008 and moved to Himachal Pradesh his home town and he has been working on the rehabilitation of the kids who are in some or other way have lost something precious in their life. Even I want to share my example where I met with an accident and doctors advised me to rest for 6-7 months. He came to visit me at my home even after I left school 6 years ago. I always used to call him, ask him about his health and take the advice for important decisions in my life.
On this Teacher’s Day I urge everyone to stay connected with the important people in your life who have taught you a lesson whether it is parents, teachers, siblings, friends and people whom you may dislike. A teacher is always a second parent in your life who will always work for your knowledge and bright future without any motives and favor. So, always Cherish them.
