DSSSB Postpone May 2020 Exams

In the wake of the crisis related to the COVID-19 pandemic, Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) has temporarily deferred all upcoming recruitment exams. DSSSB publicized the decision of postponement through a recent notification on the official website. The official announcement was posted at the DSSSB website in the form of a brief notice, dated April 17, 2020. DSSSB has played it safe this time to postpone all exams that were scheduled to be held in May 2020. Earlier, the Board postponed only selected exams by citing administrative reasons. We extracted a screenshot of the latest notice from the website and provided it here for reference. Read on to know about the possible aftermath of the postponement.

DSSSB Postpone May 2020 Exams

DSSSB is the apex recruitment agency for different subordinate departments of the Government of NCT, Delhi. It conducts various examinations, tests, interviews, and other selection processes throughout the calendar. A number of such exams were scheduled in the months of April-May 2020. However, with the release of the postponement notice, DSSSB now joins a long list of various other government recruitment agencies who postponed upcoming events in the greater interest of public health and safety.

Earlier in March, DSSSB released a similar postponement notice recognizing selected examinations that were scheduled to be held on March 30, 2020. The Board postponed only these exams citing administrative issues. However, DSSSB has now made it clear through the latest notice that they are not taking chances with the deadly virus. The Indian Government extended the nation-wide lockdown period to May 03, 2020, earlier this month. DSSSB has cited the extended deadline as the reason behind the undesirable turn of events leading to the postponement.

It is evident that the decision earlier to postpone only selected exams in March 2020 was a response to the first stage of the nation-wide lockdown imposed in India. Recruiters all over the country progressively deferred events, hoping for the situations to normalize soon. Initially, the lockdown was imposed on and from March 23 for a period of 21 consecutive days. However, recently, the Prime Minister announced the extension of the date till May 03, 2020.

The notice of the postponement of DSSSB exams comes as a significant set back to thousands of applicants awaiting the Board to conduct various scheduled recruitment examinations. However, DSSSB has also indicated that new dates are to be announced soon at the website. The official website of the Board is dsssb.delhi.gov.in. Therefore, all concerned has been requested to visit the website regularly to get any updates regarding any reschedule of events.
