What To Do After 10th? Science, Commerce, or Arts? Selecting The Best Career Option Is Critical

With the declaration of the Class 10 Board results, it’s now time for the students to make one of the toughest decisions of their lives. Choosing the right stream has always been the first step to build one’s career. The problem is that only a handful of students are aware and sure about what stream they have to choose. Moreover, the lack of guidance in case of the others can aggravate the problem.

Even today, a huge misconception prevails that if a student scores good grades or has a high percentage, then they must opt for Science. Heads up: this can never be the way to decide ones’ future. It all lies in the interests of the student and how confident they are in terms of making any sort of career decisions.

The Science stream is a very vast space that can turn into a paradise for some students and a roller coaster ride for others. The field is fascinating in terms of understanding the inventions of electricity as well as the internet. If a student wants to take up Science then they must question themselves about how much innovation comes to their head. Moreover, practical skills are very necessary while experimenting in the chemistry lab. Importantly, if one has the potential of relating the laws of physics with their surroundings, then it is a green signal for them. However, it all depends on the right combination of subjects that the students take in order to determine their career trajectory. Students can enter engineering, medical, defence or even major in subjects like Physics, Chemistry or Mathematics.

A very common stereotype associated with the Commerce stream is that it is an easy stream if one wants to enjoy their life. However, that’s not the case and most of the students are delusional about it. Commerce is interesting as well as tricky for the students. It opens the world of calculations when students get introduced to Economics and Accounts. If a student has the nature of investing their pocket money in some good work, then this stream is definitely for them. Moreover, if they find the flow of money and business function amusing, then Commerce should be the priority. Above all, the stream will make them very analytical. The most chosen career paths in Commerce are Company Secretary (CS), Cost and Management Accountant (CMA) or Chartered Accountant (CA).

Coming to Arts or the most coveted stream, it offers great potential to the students. If someone has a knack for Social Science, Music, Literature, Fine Arts, etc. then Arts is the stream that is made for them. The stream is quite powerful in making someone more creative than their peers. The writing abilities of the students get honed in addition to making them keen observers of the social scene. Moreover, students get fascinated by historic places and events. The bottom line is that if these situations light up their minds, then they must welcome themselves to this stream. In fact, students can go for Journalism, Law, government exams or major in subjects like English, Psychology, Sociology, etc.
