West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) conducted WBJEE 2021 exam today. This state level engineering entrance exam was attended by over 90,000 students in the state. The exam was held as two papers, where paper 1 was for mathematics and held from 11 am to 1 pm, and paper 2 was of physics and chemistry held from 2 pm to 4 pm.
Soon after the conclusion of the exam, coaching centers have started releasing question paper, answer keys, solutions of the exam. Some of the prominent coaching centers like Aakash, Resonance, Adamas, Pathfinder will all be publishing their versions of the keys. Candidates can get the unofficial answer keys of WBJEE 2021 released by various coaching institutes on the respective web portals. Almost all of these coachings will be releasing the solutions today, by midnight.
However the official answer key will be released by the WBJEE board in a few days, and then candidates can check the same from wbjeeb.nic.in. As per the timetable of the WBJEE 2021, the release date of the provisional answer key and the final results will be notified later.
Tentative Release Dates of Official Answer Key and Result
In 2019 and 2018, the preliminary answer key was released within 15 days after the exam, and results were declared within a month after the exam. In 2020, due to the covid-19 pandemic, the release of preliminary answer keys and results were delayed. Now as the pandemic situation is partially under control, It is expected that the provisional answer key of the WBJEE 2021 exam will be released by the last week of July 2021 tentatively whereas the final result will be declared tentatively in the 1st half of August 2021.
How to Calculate the Score using Un/official Answer Key
To get the tentative score, candidates can check their answers against the answer keys. Then as per the marking scheme, assign marks. For category 1 questions, add 1 mark per correct answer, whereas wrong answers lead to the negative marking of .25 marks. For category 2 questions, candidates get 2 mark for correct answer, and 0.5 is deducted for wrong answer. In category 3 questions (here more than one answer can be correct), one gets 2 marks for marking all correct options, and 2x(no. of correct options marked / total correct options) in case of partially correct response.
How to Challenge the Model Answer Key
Before the final answer keys are released, WBJEEB releases the model answer keys, on their official website. Candidates are allowed to challenge the model answer keys, if they are not satisfied with an answer, by paying the amount of Rs 500 per question. This fee is non-refundable. Candidates can register their challenges by logging in using their passwords. After that, the board reviews all the challenges and releases the final answer key. The decision of the board is considered final in terms of the objections and no further communications are allowed after it.
How to Check the Result
The result and final answer key are published on the official website wbjeeb.nic.in. Candidates can check their results once it is uploaded on the website using their candidate login password. The result of WBJEE 2021 is released in the form of a rank card, which contains all the important details i.e component score of paper 1 and paper 2, relevant rank and total score. Candidates should note that no duplicate rank card will be generated once the process of counselling and admission is over. Hence, they should keep a copy of their rank card safely for future use.
Ranks and Papers
Candidates who have appeared in both the papers i.e paper 1 and paper 2 become eligible for PMR (Pharmacy Merit Rank) as well as GMR (General Merit Rank). Candidature of such students is considered for admission in all the courses. On the other hand, those who appear in paper 2 only are eligible for PMR and can only apply for pharmacy courses, except the Jadavpur University. Candidates who appear only in paper 1 become ineligible for any rank.
