An important announcement is hereby made for West Bengal board exams 2021. It has been decided that board exams will not be cancelled, they will be held for both class 10 and 12 students. The Madhyamik exams are tentatively planned to be held in the second week of August, and that of HS will be in last week of July.
Leading dailies have reported that the the West Bengal government has taken the call to go ahead for board exams. As of now dates have not been finalized. Nevertheless a roadmap is being laid to hold the exams in July-August.
First, the exams for class 12th students will be conducted, around 2 months from now, in the last week of July. Then shortly after that, the papers for class 10th will be held.
It has been further proposed that the exams will be in home centers of the students, that is they will not get other schools as centers. This will be one step towards making the process easier for students amidst the unusual circumstances.
Moreover, the exams will only be held for compulsory subjects. Therefore exams will not be held for all subjects. Those subjects, for which board exams will not be held, marks will be given as per internal assessments.
Final norms for the exams will be announced soon. Insofar these decisions are informed so that students can get an understanding of what is to come.
The news has immediately drawn the ire of all groups. While it was being expected that class 12 exams will be held, that they will also be held for class 10 was not predicted. There were mixed updates on the decision until now. With the decision public now, while students are on one hand getting time to prepare themselves, on the other hand this has raised the anxiety levels for all who are understandably afraid of going out to sit for exams in the current situation.
Other states to have made announcements on board exams today are: AP – SSC exams have been postponed and will be decided in July, Haryana – HBSE will hold class 12 exams at home school center and announce date sheet soon, and Assam – SEBA and AHSEC will hold 10th, 12th exams like West Bengal.
