Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) University has introduced two changes in VITEEE 2020 exam pattern. A new section Aptitude has been added, and the number of questions in two sections have been reduced. VIT has recently been accorded the Institute of Eminence (IoE) status as well.
In the VIT Engineering Entrance Exam 2020, there will be five sections namely physics, chemistry, mathematics or biology, english, aptitude. The sections will respectively have 35, 35, 40, 5, and 10 questions. The exam will be of 2.5 hours duration, without any negative marking.
Last year, there were four sections in the exam. There were 40 questions each in physics, chemistry, mathematics or biology, and 5 in english. Duration of exam was 2.5 hours, and there was no negative marking.
In this way, VIT has introduced a new section in the exam. And at the same time, kept the total questions same by decreasing the number of questions from physics, and chemistry sections. Exam duration remains the same and so does the marking scheme.
To familiarize students of the new pattern, VIT will publish mock tests at vit.ac.in. VIT finalized the decision to include aptitude section in VITEEE 2020 on the feedback from various industries and academia.
In VITEEE 2020, candidates can choose any one combination of subjects – candidates who are taking up Physics, Chemistry, Maths and English (PCME) are eligible for all the B.Tech programs and those who will be taking Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English (PCBE) will be eligible for B.Tech bio-stream degree programs.
VITEEE exam is held at a national level for admission in their campuses – VIT Vellore, VIT Chennai, VIT-AP and VIT Bhopal. It is a computerized based test comprising of objective type of questions. Each section is of 1 mark and there is no negative marking.
Before proceeding to apply for the exam, candidates must fulfill the eligibility criteria laid down by the VIT university. Those who are appearing in 10+2 or have appeared in 10+2 in the year 2020 are eligible for VITEEE 2020. However, the candidates must have an aggregate of 60% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics / Biology (PCMB)
Whereas, the candidates belonging to SC / ST and those who hailing from Jammu and Kashmir or the North eastern states must score atleast 50 % in PCMB. Besides that, the institution has set 21 years as the maximum age limit to appear for VITEEE 2020 exam.
The admission is purely held on the basis of the marks secured in the VITEEE entrance exam. Those who qualify the exam, will be called for the counselling round. Candidates can select the campus of their choice at the time of counselling based on their ranking.
