UPSSSC PET exam date 2022 is being searched by UP government job aspirants. This is because the UPSSSC Lekhpal 2022 notification released earlier this week says that PET is compulsory for Lekhpal recruitment. What is PET? When will PET 2022 be held? And what should candidates who did not appear in UPSSSC PET 2021 do? Read on to find out.
Yesterday, UPSSSC announced 8085 vacancies for the post of Lekhpal across the state. However, the basic criterion for applying in the huge vacancies is having a valid score card for PET 2021. Once this news broke, several aspirants who could not appear for the UPSSSC PET exam this year have started worrying and looking for solutions. Candidates are now searching for UPSSSC PET 2022 exam date which is not available at this moment.
UPSSSC PET 2022 Exam Date
As of now, there is no announcement regarding the next exam date of Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET).
A popular daily recently put up a news piece on the UPSSSC Lekhpal recruitment 2022, in which it stated that PET 2022 shall be held on August 24, 2022. On investigation, this exam date was found to be a typo as no official announcement has been made as of now. The report was probably written on the basis of the previous installment of the PET exam – last year PET was held on August 24, 2021.
However, it must be noted that the PET certificate is valid for only one year. Last year the result was announced on October 28, 2021. Thus, there are high chances that the UPSSSC PET 2022 exam should be held soon, so that the next result gets declared before last year’s certificate expires.
Uttar Pradesh government has made the PET test an essential part of the competitive exams in the state. Hence, candidates who have been aspiring to apply against the vacancies released by UPSSSC must start their preparations for the upcoming UPSSSC PET exam.
About UPSSSC PET Exam
UPSSSC PET or Preliminary Eligibility Test is a common written exam conducted by the Uttar Pradesh services commission to check if candidates are eligible for various vacancies reported in the state. The commission introduced this combined preliminary test last year in 2021, against which the registrations commenced in May and the exam was held in August for the first time. The valid scorecard obtained after appearing and qualifying in the PET exam serves as an eligibility criterion for appearing in the Mains exam held in the state for different vacancies.
Why was the UPSSSC PET exam introduced?
Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission has announced conducting the PET exam to avoid a situation wherein the candidates have to appear in multiple exams. With the PET exam, candidates have to know merely to prepare for a single preliminary test and use the scorecard thus obtained for the Mains exam notified for multiple posts. Apart from benefitting the candidates, it has also reduced the burden on the exam machinery and the commission who have to conduct a plethora of exams every year.
PET exam is conducted in the offline mode for a total of 100 marks. The written examination is going to have 100 questions asked from sections such as History, Geography, Indian Economy, General Science, Mathematics, Logical Reasoning, General English, Hindi, Current Affairs, Tables and DI, etc. Candidates get 2 hours to complete the test and there is a prescribed negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer marked.
