The National Testing Agency is all set to commence the first-day exam of UGC NET 2020 tomorrow. As per the latest developments, the UGC NET 2020 exam is scheduled to be conducted from September 24 to November 05, 2020. As of now, the NTA has issued the admit cards for the exams to be conducted on September 24 and 25, 2020. Concerned candidates can download the admit card from the website ugcnet.nta.nic.in by logging in with the application number and date of birth. Incidentally, not only is the admit card necessary to appear in the exam, but it also contains guidelines and SOPs which must be carefully followed at the exam centre.

UGC NET 2020 exam is being conducted across the nation for 81 different subjects. It will determine the eligibility of applicants for recruitment as Assistant Professor or JRF & Assistant Professor in Indian Higher Education Institutes. Referring to the detailed exam schedule, the exam for September 24 is scheduled to be conducted for Adult Education, Chinese, Comparative study of religions and 26 other subjects. Similarly, the exam on September 25 will be conducted for Comparative Literature, Criminology, Folk Literature and 10 other subjects. Candidates are advised to refer to the website for the complete details of papers and their shift timings.

Immediately upon entering the application number, date of birth and security pin to log in and download the admit card, candidates have to sign an undertaking regarding COVID preventive measures. For instance, candidates have to acknowledge if they have been suffering from any of the listed symptoms of COVID-19 during the last 14 days. One must also acknowledge that they were not in close contact with any confirmed or suspected COVID-19 patient and other travel details. In addition, it is recommended that candidates wear face masks at all times.

The admit card can only be downloaded after submitting the undertaking. Similarly, candidates have to acknowledge their travelling details and prevalence of any COVID-19 symptom on the hard copy of the admit card. A range of instructions related to the exam, exam day guidelines and other SOPs for COVID prevention is indicated on the admit card. It is mandatory to carry the admit card and valid ID proof to the exam centre. Candidates must also ensure that they strictly follow the reporting time as indicated on the admit cards.

Candidates are strictly advised to refrain from carrying any banned items to the exam centre. However, the NTA recommends carrying a transparent ballpoint pen, additional photographs, personal hand sanitizer and transparent water bottle to the exam centre. Before reaching the Centre, candidates are required to enter necessary details in the Self Declaration, put the Left Thumb Impression and paste a photograph on the declaration.

The NTA does not specify any stringent dress code to be followed at the UGC NET 2020 exam centre. However, shoes with thick soles and garments with large buttons are not permitted. In addition, candidates carrying metallic objects like Kara and Kirpan must report to the centre one and half hour before the gate closing time for frisking. However, candidates are advised to read the instructions on COVID prevention and other exam guidelines carefully after downloading the admit card.

General instructions such as reporting to the centre on time, maintaining physical distance and use of face masks must be carefully adhered to. No candidate will be allowed to sit for the exam without producing the admit card and valid photo identity. One must report only to the centre allocated to them. Once the exam start, candidates are not allowed to leave until the full duration is over. Rough sheets must be handed over before leaving.
