International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Hyderabad is going to conduct the Special Channel of Admission (SPEC) entrance exam 2021 on June 02, 2021. The application process for the exam began on March 25, 2021, on the official website ugadmissions.iiit.ac.in and shall close on May 10, 2021. Authorities have revised the eligibility criteria to help JNV and CBSE students apply for the entrance exam. Students coming under the “Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik” (UDAAN) scheme of CBSE are eligible to apply for SPEC 2021.
Authorities have specified certain eligibility criteria which the candidates must fulfil to appear for the exam. According to the prescribed criteria, candidates must have passed Class 12 or equivalent on or before July 2021 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as their core subjects. Furthermore, they must fulfil any one of the three criteria i.e should come under the UDAAN scheme of the Central Board of Secondary education (CBSE), or candidates must have studied in the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) for a minimum of two years (class 11 and 12) or, the aspirant must be currently studying in the fourth semester of a 6-year integrated B.Tech programme after Class 10. Candidates fulfilling these criteria can apply for the entrance exam on or before May 10, 2021.
SPEC is a specially designed admission process organised by IIIT Hyderabad for enrolment to B.Tech programmes. Under this admission process, two engineering programmes shall be offered to qualified candidates. These programmes are Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) and, Computer Science and Engineering (CSE). Both undergraduate programs shall contain 10 seats each.
SPEC 2021 examination shall be conducted through the computer-based format for a duration of 60 minutes. The exam shall be held in allotted centres across multiple cities in the country. It is a Subject Proficiency (SUPR) test comprising of multiple-choice questions. These questions shall cover topics from three subjects namely Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The paper shall be based on the CBSE Class 11 and 12 syllabus which shall mostly cover the state board syllabus as well.
To apply for the exam, candidates must first, register on the official website ugadmissions.iiit.ac.in. To do so, they must click on the “Application portal is open” option and then select the “Click here” option for new users. Thereafter, they must fill the registration form with information such as personal details, father’s details, mother’s details, sibling’s details, address and login information.
After completing the registration form, candidates must click on the “save and proceed” option to complete the remaining steps. These include filling the application form and paying the registration fee. SPEC 2021 registration fee is Rs.500 which is non-refundable. All the registration steps must be completed before the deadline mentioned by authorities.
