The Tamil Nadu state government has committed to a two days deadline for taking a final decision regarding the fate of the Class 12 board exams in the state this year. As per latest reports, a final decision as to whether Class 12 board exams will be conducted this year or not will be taken by June 04, 2021. Education Minister of the state Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi has reportedly said to the media that the government will be considering suggestions from parents, teachers and students before taking a final decision.
The Class 12 board exams of the Tamil Nadu State Education Board has been delayed this year, owing to the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in India. Earlier, the TN state government also hinted that revised exam dates of the postponed Class 12 exams will be announced after the pandemic circumstances have subsided. However, following CBSE’s recent decision to cancel the Class 12 board exams 2021, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, has reportedly conducted a meeting with the state education minister on Wednesday.

The government of the state is seeking suggestions and opinions of key stakeholders affected by a decision regarding the Class 12 board exams this year. This includes students, parents, teachers etc. As per reports, the opinion of students, teacher and other stakeholders regarding whether the Class 12 board exams must be conducted or not has been sought through email id [email protected]. On the other hand, the education minister has confirmed that a final decision will be made by June 04, 2021, as per the latest media reports.
The Education Minister of the state has stated to media channels that the TN Chief Minister Stalin has proposed that the opinion of students, teachers and other stakeholders must be considered. For this a two days timeline has been decided after which, the government is likely to announce whether the TN State Education Board will actually conduct the Class 12 board exams this year or not.
The state education minister also added to his public statement that the Chief Minister will be considering the status of Class 12 exams in other states of India before taking a final decision. Opinion of stakeholders, the status of Class 12 board exams in other states and a complete review of the current circumstances will be done and a final decision will be announced by June 04, 2021.
It may be noted that the CBSE recently postponed the Class 12 board exams after considerable waiting and reviewing of situations. Following the decision, the CM of Tamil Nadu, in consultation with the education minister has now decided to receive public opinion through the provided email address. Interested candidates who were registered to appear in the Class 12 board exams in Tamil Nadu this year can send their suggestions/opinion regarding the fate of the exam without delay as a final decision is likely to be announced tomorrow.
