Eligibility Criteria

  • Students must have completed an undergraduate degree before applying for medical schools in the US.
  • Specific pre-med programs help Indian students to pursue a Bachelor of Science (BS) before getting admission to US medical schools.
  • These pre-med programs also help students to complete pre-requisite courses and prepare for the rigors of medical school.  The pre-med programs also help students prepare for MCAT.
  • One of the criteria students must meet is a minimum score of 500 in MCAT to get admission for MBBS abroad.
  • General category students are required to obtain at least 50 % marks in Physics, Biology, and Chemistry.
  • MCAT cleared students may receive an advantage over the general as top MCI recognized medical universities prefer MCAT students.
  • Another essential MBBS criterion is the NEET scorecard. The potential student aiming to pursue MBBS abroad must obtain the minimum qualifying marks in NEET required by the medical institute abroad.
  • The clearance of the IELTS/TOEFL exam is also compulsory to plan a career in MBBS.
  • The student may also note that a large number of universities abroad provide MBBS courses through the medium of the English Language.

MBBS in an abroad country ensures that all graduates would benefit from getting a world-class education, high-quality instruction, modern technology as well as the new curriculum; including worldwide exposure and realistic experience. Following are the reasons that you might consider for studying medical abroad:

1. International Recognition:

Most of the medical institutions abroad are accredited by the MCI, and other regulatory bodies, which ensures that if you pursue your MBBS abroad, the degree you will receive upon finishing your studies would be recognized worldwide. Therefore, MCI approved medical colleges abroad can equip you with the flexibility to practice medicine all over the world even back in your own country. The certification associated with MCI can provide you with hands-on experience to the best theoretical medical knowledge and help you obtain a superior learning experience.

American University of Antigua College of Medicine (AUA COM) is one such University recognized by MCI. It is also accredited, approved, and recognized by the Caribbean Accreditation Authority for Education in Medicine and other Health Professions (CAAM-HP), and UK’s General Medical Council (GMC), American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI), United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI), Medical Board of California, New York State Education Department and others.

2. Affordable Study Expenses:

MBBS abroad has now become a workable vision that will not only improve your medical expertise; but will also impact your confidence. It can further give you a chance to go back to your hometown to practice medicine. And, with a reduced fee structure, you’re going to receive more incentives and grooming.

The cost of pursuing MBBS abroad can be relatively low as compared to medical education in India. The reason for the same is that every year lakhs of students compete for limited medical seats. An MBBS degree in a country such as the United States of America can cost between  3.60 lakhs to 47 lakhs per year.

3. Better Infrastructure and Technology:

Institutions abroad which offer MBBS degrees are well-equipped with high-quality infrastructure and other technological advancements. The health care system and hospital facilities in several countries abroad are well equipped with high-end state-of-art equipment. This can easily help boost the confidence of medical students and equip them with a better learning experience.

AUA also has state-of-the-art facilities in the campus with a fully equipped library, large lecture halls, anatomy and pathology labs, case simulation labs, education enhancement department, classrooms for tutoring and group sessions, recreational football and basketball areas, fitness gym, on-campus clinic, and the cafeteria.

4. Easy Admission Process:

Admissions abroad are primarily based on the percentage obtained in academics. This criterion increases the chances of students getting into reputed colleges abroad.

In AUA, the admission team helps the applicants from the beginning of the application done until the enrolment and registration are done. Thus, the admission process rendered at AUA has a personal touch in it offered to every student applying.

5.  Food and Culture Diversity:

Another great advantage of studying MBBS abroad is that you may get a chance to explore a different culture and eating habits. Cultural diversity experiences by students that pursue MBBS abroad help them understand the science of medicine above cultural boundaries and further help them improve their professional skills.

In contrast, if eating habits abroad do not act as the preferable choice for you, there are a lot of Indian options to remit nausea.

6. Student Safety:

Medical universities abroad give students a fun and pleasant atmosphere to cultivate new friendships. When we speak about protection and security abroad, particularly the safety of women, let’s first assure you that women are well protected abroad as they are under constant surveillance. Comfortable and safe accommodation is offered to all medical students by universities and their safety is prioritized above everything else in abroad MBBS admission.

The Caribbean islands are safe and good for students to study and explore places simultaneously. Therefore, the American University of Antigua is a good choice for studying medicine abroad to learn and accustom yourself to the global culture.

7. Practical Exposure:

Pursuing MBBS abroad gives students a wide variety of realistic experiences throughout their academic degrees. MBBS study abroad involves not only conceptual lessons but also insightful and realistic training. In this manner, before being a medic, you can gain the requisite training, which will legitimately improve your chances of a successful career as a doctor.

Clinical rotations are offered during the third and fourth years of the MD program at AUA when students get the opportunity to obtain practical exposure at teaching hospitals and affiliated clinical sites throughout the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and India.

MBBS is a challenging course and requires a high degree of discipline and fortitude to achieve success. However, with adequate training and guidance studying MBBS abroad can be a rewarding experience for a successful career. Therefore, join the American University of Antigua to experience best-in-class medical studies and become a successful physician.
