SRM Amaravati launches School of Liberal Arts and Basic Sciences (SLABS)

The SRM University, Amaravati proudly introduces School of Liberal Arts and Basic Sciences (SLABS). On January 25, 2018, it was decided that the University will set up SLABS. The decision to set up the school in the presence of Honorary Pro-Chancellor of SRM University, Prof. Nicholas Dirks, and other honorary members.

In SLABS, the candidates are offered admission in B.A, B.B.A, B.Com and B.Sc programs across 12 disciplines: Commerce, Economics, English Studies, History, Journalism, Psychology, Business Studies, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, and Physics.

The School of Liberal Arts & Basic Sciences at SRM University, AP – Amaravati is backed by the world-class faculty handpicked from around the world.

There are two admission cycles for admission in SLABS, namely, Cycle 1 (Early Entry Offer) and Cycle 2. The application process for admission in SLABS has been started and the last date to submit the form for Cycle 1 is April 20, 2018.

To apply in Cycle 1, the candidates should have obtained 80% marks in Class 10th and are currently awaiting the results of class 12th. For the eligible candidates, a Provisional Admission Letter will be published, however, the admission is on the basis of the candidate’s performance in Class 12th. The counseling for Cycle 1 starts from April 25 and ends on May 10, 2018.

The second phase of the application process, i.e., Cycle 2, will end on June 15, 2018. The counseling in Cycle 2 starts from June 16 to 30 June 2018. The classes in SLABS will commence from mid-July 2018.

To apply online for SLABS, the candidates first need to register online at applications.srmuniv.ac.in/slabs. Then enter basic details such as your Name, Email ID, Mobile Number, Password, State, City. After the registration is done, the aspirants can process to fill up the application form. The applicants need to pay an application fee of Rs. 1100/-.

The annual tuition fee for BA – Economics, English Studies, History, Journalism, Psychology, B.Com, B.Sc courses is Rs. 1,50,000. While for BBA, the annual tuition fee is Rs. 2,50,000. The annual hostel fee for Indian Nationals for twin sharing Air Conditioned Rooms is 1,15,000 + 55,000, whereas, for Non-Air Conditioned Rooms it is 75,000 + 55,000 (Mess). The International Candidates have to pay USD 4,500 for twin sharing Air Conditioned Rooms, whereas, USD 3,500 for Non-Air Conditioned Rooms.

SRM University, Amaravati, has forged strategic partnerships with top Universities from around the world like MIT (Massachusetts), Illinois Institute of Technology (Chicago), UC Berkley (California), EFREI (France) with the aim to provide students with the knowledge and skill-set at par with the global standards.

Through SLABS, students are given an opportunity to pursue a multi-disciplinary program across Humanities, Social Sciences, Commerce, Business Studies and Physical Sciences. Students will not only pursue foundation courses from across 6-7 disciplines, but also from departmental core courses, departmental electives and general electives. In addition to pursuing a Major, students also have the option to Minor in a discipline outside of their area of Major.
