Microblogging website Twitter is flooding with posts from male nurses who are evidently against the CIB’s decision of 80:20 reservation in regards to the recruitment of nurses at all All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) across India. As per reports, qualified male nursing candidates are expressing major dissent over the decision as Twitter is flooding with post adorned with the hashtag Save_Male_Nurses.
As per reports, the Central Institutions Board (CIB) has decided to implement 80% reservation for female candidates in the recruitment of candidates for nursing staff at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). Major media channels reported that the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) has issued a notification to the central government and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) highlighting the gender-based discrimination in the recruitment of nursing staff in AIIMS.
The issue has led to a major uproar among aspiring candidates who have resorted to the popular microblogging website Twitter to voice their concerns. Aspiring candidates are posting on Twitter against the unfairly decision with the hashtag #Save_Male_Nurses. Remove 80:20 requirements in AIIMS Nursing [email protected], Twitter user Pradip Sharma has tweeted, sharing a screenshot of that more than 4000 tweets has already been posted having the hashtag #Save_Male_Nurses.
In addition to individual aspirants, AIIMS Nurses Union has already expressed dissent against the decision. The Union has alleged gender discrimination against the decision of the CAT in regards to the reservation of the AIIMS in the recruitment of nurses for the medical institution. As per latest reports, a notice has been issued to the Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan in regards to the decision. The decision was taken in the fourth meeting of the Central Institute Body in regards to the recruitment of nurses in various All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in India.
“Stop gender discrimination in AIIMS”, tweeted a user on the popular microblogging website, while another user has tweeted “In the Era of Equality, Health minister of India divided nurses on behalf of Gender”. Another latest tweet read “Stop Gender Based Reservation In AIIMS Nursing Officer Recruitment. We are Against Gender Discrimination”.
As per reports, the decision for AIIMS reservation in the recruitment of nursing staff was taken in a meeting chaired by the minister and other members of the Central Institutes Board (CIB). However, the nurses union has reportedly stated that no nursing personnel were involved in the meeting.
