After a waiting period of more than 1.5 years since the RRB NTPC CEN 01/2019 recruitment notification was released, the Computer Based Tests are going to be conducted in December 2020 onward. Railway Recruitment Board announced the Phase 1 exam dates of NTPC CEN 01/2019 recruitment earlier this month. The Phase 1 exam is scheduled to be conducted from December 28, 2020, to January 13, 2021, across centres located in major cities of India. As per official notice on the exam schedule, the RRB NTPC Admit Card 2020-2021 for CEN 01/2019 is releasing four days before the exam i.e. on December 24, 2020. Reportedly, approximately 23 lakh candidates from around 1.25 Crore applicants will appear in the Phase 1 exam. The remaining 1.02 crore candidates have to take the test in the Phase 2 exam scheduled to be conducted on later dates.
RRB NTPC (CEN 01/2019) 2020-2021 Phase 1 and Phase 2 CBTs
Railway Recruitment Board announced vacancies in the Non-Technical Popular Category (NTPC) through CEN 01/2019 earlier in the year 2019. In due course of time, the Computer Based Tests were cancelled owing to non-confirmation of the Exam Conducting Agency (ECA). The Board published several tender notices for the engagement of ECA before publishing the application status after a long gap in September 2020. It is only in the early December 2020, that the exam dates were confirmed. However, the examination is scheduled to be conducted in two phases as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
RRB indicated in the public notice dated 17.12.2020 that the Phase 1 CBT is to be held for around 23 lakh candidates only. Whereas, approximately 1.25 crore applications have been registered by the Board. The notice read, “the 1st Stage CBT will be held in multiple phases in order to ensure adherence to all the Covid-19 guidelines for the large number of eligible candidates“.
As of now, RRB has not indicated the schedule of events for the Phase 2 CBTs although, the examination for both the phases are expected to be completed by the end of March 2021. However, this means that the remaining 1.02 crore candidates who are not selected for the Phase 1 exam have to wait for allocation of exam schedule in the Phase 2 exam.
How to download RRB NTPC Admit Card 2020-2021 (CEN 01/2019)?
The admit card for RRB NTPC 2020-2021 (CEN 01/2019) is scheduled to release at the respective regional RRB websites. Since the admit card releases through candidate login only, therefore, only registered candidates can download it using the login credentials generated during the online registration process earlier. It may be noted that the link to download the admit card is activated only from December 24, 2020, onward.
In order to download RRB NTPC Admit Card 2020-2021 (CEN 01/2019), candidates have to visit the regional RRB website. At the website, candidates can go to the admit card download page by clicking on the link that says something like “RRB NTPC CBT-1 Admit Card 2019”. Thereafter, one must enter the registration number and password to login and download the admit card.

RRB has also released the link to view the exam city & date and downloading of travelling authority for SC/ST candidates. However, these can only be accessed by those candidates who are shortlisted for the Phase 1 CBT. Candidates who are not shortlisted in Phase 1 are being displayed with the message “Dear Candidate, You are not scheduled in the present phase. Please wait for the intimation from RRBs” upon clicking the aforementioned link. Candidates are advised to keep a regular check of the RRB website for the latest updates and intimation about the Phase 2 exam.
