The Ministry of Railways under the Government of India is expected to commence the RRB recruitment 2021-22 for levels 6 and 7 very soon. As per sources, letters have been sent to the principal chief personnel officers of all Indian railways and production units to collect information regarding supervisory cadres in levels 6 and 7. The letter directs all railways to furnish details for the two levels and also mention the designation, number of categories, sanctioned strength, etc.

These details can be filled via a Google link that will be circulated in the relevant WhatsApp groups separately. The letter states that the issue must be treated urgently and all filed units must provide information by November 16, 2021. This information will further be required for considering the measures required to address the stagnation issue in the supervisory cadres.
Level 6 is for the post of Junior Engineers (JE). As per ‘Annexure-I’ that is enclosed within the letter, the concerned railway has to mention its name along with the number of categories, name of the categories, sanctioned strength, and strength on roll. There are ten Level-6 departments namely Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, S&T, Personnel, Stores, Traffic, Ministerial, Miscellaneous, and others.
Sources say that the recruitment notification for both levels may be released by the end of this year. Hence, the RRB is going through the process. It is speculated that the number of vacancies can range from five to ten thousand. This will only be finalized after the information is received from the concerned railways. Posts such as Senior Section Engineer, CMS, and CDMS come under level 7. Similarly, in addition to JE, level 7 also includes various supervisory posts.
Previously, a meeting was held in October 2021. One of the orders that were passed during the meeting was to fill up the posts for level 7. By the time the official notification is out, it is expected that the number of vacancies is likely to increase. According to a previous notification released in 2018, there were around 15700 vacancies for the JE posts. The upcoming new recruitment is likely to see more than 10000 vacancies.
