The Railway Recruitment Boards had conducted the CEN 01/2019 (NTPC) and CEN RRC 01/2019 CBT-1 exams from December 28, 2020 to July 31, 2021. The results for the CBT-1 were declared on January 14, 2022. Following the declaration of the results, many candidates had raised concerns regarding the shortlisting process for CBT-2. However, due to the mounting concerns, the RRB has decided to revise the results. The RRB had released an official notification today at rrbcdg.gov.in. In the notification, new modifications and tentative dates decided upon are provided. It is now decided that the revised results will be announced by the first week of April, 2022.
Important decisions taken by the RRB committee
- Candidates upto 20 times the total vacancies in each pay level will now be shortlisted for CBT-2.
- There will not be CBT-2 for Group D CEN RRC-01/2019 (Level-1).
- A percentile based normalisation will be carried out, instead of a mark based normalisation.
- The candidates who have already been shortlisted will remain qualified.
- The CBT-2 for different levels will be conducted with reasonable age gap.
Earlier, it was decided that candidates upto 10 times the total vacancies will be shortlisted for CBT-2. However, according to the new notification, the total number of candidates shortlisted will be increased to 20 times. That is, it can be expected that an additional 4 lakh candidates will now be shortlisted for CBT-2.

CBT-2 exam pattern
The CBT-2 exam consists of 120 objective questions, carrying 1 mark each, with 1/3rd negative marking for each wrong answer marked by the candidate. The total duration of the exam is 90 minutes. Questions will be asked from General Awareness, Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning. The cut-off marks for each category – General (40%), OBC, SC (30%) and ST (25%). The Computer Based Aptitude Test and Typing Test will be conducted based on the posts the candidates have applied for. Candidates qualifying this exam will be called up for document verification, after which they will be recruited.
