Powergrid Corporation India Limited, the PGCIL is inviting online applications for 35 vacancies in Diploma Trainee Electrical and Diploma Trainee Civil domain. Interested and eligible candidates can apply online on the website, powergridindia.com, on or before December 16, 2019. Position wise, 30 seats are allotted to Diploma Trainee in the Electrical field and 5 seats for Diploma Trainee Civil.

As per the recruitment guidelines, PGCIL has taken into consideration the reservation for the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Class (OBC), Economically weaker section of society (EWS), Persons with Disabilities (PwD) and Ex-servicemen (ESM).
Category-wise, 14 seats are reserved for UR, 7 for OBC, 6 for SC, 1 for ST, 2 for EWS and 1 for ESM for the posts in Diploma Trainee Electrical. For the posts in Diploma Trainee Civil 3 seats are reserved for UR, 1 for OBC and 1 for SC.
Powergrid Corporation of India Limited has set some criteria for the eligibility of the candidates in terms of qualifications and age limit. To be eligible for the posts under PGCIL, one should have a full time 3 years regular diploma cleared with minimum 70% marks, mandatorily. Moreover, one should also adhere to the age bar. For the general category candidates the maximum age limit prescribed is 27 years, for OBC it is 30 years and for SC, ST the same is 32 years.

In the PGCIL application form, one needs to upload the scanned images of their photograph and signature. The size of the photograph should be less or equal to 50KB and for the signature is should be 30 KB, all in jpg format. Candidates who are working in government sector, have to upload the No objection Certificate in the pdf format.
Against the application form, the corporation charges a form fee of Rs. 300. As mentioned in the notice SC, ST, PwD and ESM candidates are exempted from paying the fee.
Interested candidates have to undergo the written test which is of 170 objective type questions. Each question have four options, candidates have to mark one out of the given options. For every right answer candidates will get +4 marks and for every wrong answer 1/4 or -0.25 will be deducted.
The qualifying criteria set by the corporation for the unreserved category are 40% marks in the written test and for the reserved category it is 30%. The selected candidates will then undergo training and will receive the stipend of Rs. 25,000 per month from the Corporation.
