Voting is an important aspect of being an active and responsible citizen in a democratic country. However, to participate in any poll, one needs to get his/her Voter ID. With this view in mind, the National Voters’ Services Portal (NVSP) website allows an individual to apply for a Voter ID for any state or constituency. The entire process is online and allows an individual to fill up the application form and upload the required documents within the comfort of his/her home.

Apply for Voter Card at the NVSP Portal

To apply for a Voter ID online, one can use a detailed, step-wise process given below –

Step 1: Visit the official website of NVSP i.e., nvsp.in

Step 2: On the homepage of the website, click on the “Voter Portal” option. By doing so, a new page will open containing the login window. In case one has not registered on the website, click on the options present underneath the window and log in with Facebook, Google, Twitter, etc. By doing so, a new page will open confirming the registration with NVSP.

Step 3: Enter the profile details such as name, surname, state/UT, and gender before clicking on the ‘Submit’ option.

Step 4: the “What are you looking for today” section will appear. Click on the “New Voter Registration” option to proceed further.

Step 5: Choose one of the options between ‘New Applicant’ or ‘Applicant with a Voter ID’.

Step 6: Click on the option coinciding with citizenship status.

Step 7: Enter the verification code or OTP sent on the registered mobile number.

Step 8: Choose the right date of birth and upload a document proving the same. Thereafter, enter the required personal details along with disability status and upload an appropriate, recently-clicked picture.

Step 9: Key in required information regarding family members’ addresses along with uploading documents proving these claims.

Step 10: Lastly, enter the date of filling up the Voter ID application for agreeing to the declaration.

Step 11: By doing so, a document will open specifying all the details provided during the application process. Check and verify whether all these details are accurate and authentic.

Step 12: After doing a thorough check, click on the ‘Submit’ option to successfully apply for a Voter ID.

Step 13: A confirmation page will appear on the screen. Take a screenshot of the same for future reference. A reference ID or acknowledgment will also be sent to the registered email ID. This reference ID can be used to track the application’s progress.
