National Testing Agency has officially postponed the CSIR NET 2020 exam scheduled to be held tomorrow in centres across Puducherry and Tamil Nadu. In a public notice released at the website csirnet.nta.nic.in earlier today, the NTA announced that the exam on November 26, 2020, has been postponed in these said State and UT due to the aftermaths of the cyclone “Nivar”. NTA has asked candidates to wait till further notice and declaration of new dates for the examination. Further updates will be available on the aforementioned website.

CSIR NET 2020 was scheduled to be held in November 2020 on 19th, 21st and 26th in centres across the country. While the exam for other papers are already over on 19th and 21st November, 2020. The exam for Chemical Sciences and Mathematical Sciences were scheduled to be held tomorrow i.e. November 26, 2020 in two shifts. However, with the publication of the official notice, the exam stands postponed in the State of Tamil Nadu and Union Territory of Puducherry due to the cyclone “Nirvana” hitting parts of the region in Southern India.
Admit Cards for CSIR NET 2020 were already published by the NTA at the official website on November 07, 2020. Candidates were allowed to download the admit card to appear in the exam by logging in to the website. The notice reads “New date for the examination will be notified shortly. Concerned candidates are advised to visit the website csirnet.nta.nic.in and nta.ac.in for latest updates“. As such, candidates can expect the NTA to comment on whether new admit cards will be issued when the exam is rescheduled or not.
Candidates must note that the NTA has only postponed the exam in centres that are located in the state of Tamil Nadu and Union Territory of Puducherry only. However, the exam will be conducted as per schedule in all the other centres across India tomorrow.
Concerned candidates are advised to wait for the NTA to declare new dates for conducting the exam in centres across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. One must regularly check the official websites for the latest updates in this regard. In the meantime, candidates can also brush up on last-minute revisions. There are three sections in each paper of CSIR NET 2020. There are 120 questions in all out of which maximum 75 questions must be attempted. However, In Chemical Sciences paper, the marks per correct answer in Part A, B and C are 2, 2 and 4 respectively. On the other hand, in the Mathematical Sciences paper, the marks per correct answer in Part A, B and C are 2, 3 and 4.75 respectively. One must also note that variable negative marking is also applicable in each section of these papers of CSIR NET 2020.
