National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) have announced the exam date for NEST 2022. The date has also been updated on the official website nestexam.in. Accordingly, the National Entrance Screening Test (NEST) 2022 will be conducted through the computer-based format, on June 18, 2022. Dates for application process, admit card release along with release of information brochure will be intimated soon on the official website. The website clearly states “To be announced shortly” against these corresponding events.
What does official website state?
Instead of releasing an official notice announcing the exam date, NISER decided on updating the official website. Accordingly, the official website states –
Date of Examination: 18th of June 2022 (Saturday)
Other than this update, the website does not not specify any details about the entrance test. So, under such uncertain times, candidates are advised to visit the official portal frequently for important developments in this regard. So that they don’t miss out on any deadline or exam event.
What is NEST 2022 Exam?
NEST Exam is the gateway for admissions to NISER and UM DAE CBS. NISER offers 5 year integrated M.Sc. programme in Biological, Chemical, Mathematical and Physical sciences. Whereas CEBS offers 5 year integrated M.Sc. programme in Biological, Chemical, Mathematical and Physical sciences.
There are 200, and 57 seats respectively.
About NISER
NISER is a dedicated educational institute established by the Department of Atomic Energy and strives propel research and education in the field of Science. Students are motivated to experiment and deliberate over pertinent scientific subjects, under the guidance of distinguished teachers and renowned scientists. This year, the institute is planning to fill as many as 200 seats, including the vacancies reserved for certain vacancies.
NEST 2022 Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the NEST 2022 examination, candidates need to fulfil four eligibility criteria specified by NEST. Only these criteria have been posted on the official portal without any clarity on the registration process. The four criteria are as follows –
#1 Candidates belonging to General and OBC categories must have been born latest by August 01, 2022. A 5-year relaxation in age limitations have been provided for SC, ST and Divyangjan candidates.
#2 They must have passed Class 12 examination in 2020 or 2021. However, those appearing for board exams in 2022 are also eligible to apply.
#3 Candidates must have achieve at least 60% marks in their Class 12 qualifying exam from any recognised board in India. For SC, ST and Divyangjan, this expectation has been reduced to 55%.
#4 Candidates must achieve a spot in the NEST 2022 merit list.
Only after fulfilling these eligibility criteria will a candidate be able to seek admission at two institutes – 1. NISER and 2. University of Mumbai – Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CEBS).
