NTA will soon declare the result of NEET 2020 exam. Though that will happen only after the pending process of OMR and recorded responses is completed. Nevertheless as we inch closer to the crucial day, candidates across the country who appeared in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test must be aware of their options.
First thing to understand is that one is considered eligible for any of the courses only if he or she has obtained the minimum qualifying cut off marks. It is set at 50th percentile for general, general EWS candidates. It is 45th percentile for UR-PWD, and UR-EWS-PWD. However it is 40th percentile for all SC, ST, OBC-NCL candidates. The cut off marks will be known against the given percentile only when the NEET 2020 result is available. Coaching centers have given their prediction that the 50th percentile will correspond to at least 135 marks, 45th to 120, and 40th to 108.
Coming to the courses.
Everyone knows that NEET is the medical entrance exam for admission to MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery), BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) programs. An equally important thing to know is that NEET is also the mandatory exam for admission to UG AYUSH programs.
Therefore, admission to BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery), BSMS (Bachelor of Siddha Medicine & Surgery), BUMS (Bachelor of Unani Medicine & Surgery), BHMS (Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine & Surgery) is also going to be on the basis of NEET exam.
Whereas National Testing Agency (NTA) has the responsibility of all processes of NEET upto declaration of NEET results. The onus of counselling and admission processes is upon different bodies.
For MBBS and BDS admissions, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (mohfw.gov.in), and Medical Counselling Committee (mcc.nic.in) are responsible. And for BAMS, BSMS, BUMS, BHMS Ministry of AYUSH (ayush.gov.in), and the AYUSH Admission Central Counselling Committee (aaccc.gov.in) lays down the path. Any and all seats that remain unfilled through their counselling are filled by the institution.
NEET Result 2020 early announcement chances dim
NEET 2020 result is expected to be announced either by the end of this week, or early next week. The exam was held on September 13, 2020. Initially when NTA had released the answer keys early, on September 26, 2020, hopes went up for an early announcement of results. However the early declaration of results was contingent to OMR responses display starting on the last day of key challenge, but that did not happen.
Now, everyone is waiting for NTA to start OMR sheet display and recorded responses display. The window to see and challenge them should be open for at least 3-4 days. And then at least 3-4 days after that result of NEET 2020 will be announced. So even if the OMR responses are announced today, result is thus expected not before end of this week or early next week.
