Supreme Court of India rejected the plea to postpone NEET PG 2022 exam today, May 13, 2022. A bench led by Justice DY Chandrachud heard the petition filed by advocate Ashutosh Dubey that demanded pushing the exam dates of NEET PG 2022 to a future date but was rejected. With this dismissal, it is now clear that the NEET PG 2022 shall be held on its predestined date i.e. MAY 21, 2022. Also, the candidates can expect the admit cards of NEET PG 2022 to be released by May 16, 2022.
While giving the orders, Justice DY Chandrachud said that postponing the exam is only going to create chaos and uncertainty amongst the students who have been preparing hard for the exam. The bench also referred to the data as per which there is a deficiency in the number of resident doctors. “This year we have only 2 sets of resident doctors in the country and any delay in the exam is like playing with the lives of the doctors” was quoted by the bench. The postponement is going to cause prejudice to the 2 lakh students who have registered and prepared for the NEET PG exam.
Reason for Demand of NEET PG 2022 Postponement
Earlier, IMA (Indian Medical Association) wrote a letter to Union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya to reschedule the NEET PG 2022 exam. The reason put forth by the association was less time for the students who participated in NEET PG 2021 counselling and NEET PG 2022 exam. Post this, a petition was filed by doctors highlighting reasons like students who have served during COVID-19 cannot appear in the exam citing the delay in their final exam result. The petition also referred to the hardships faced by the students who have got lower ranks in the NEET PG 2021 exam and had a very short time to prepare for the NEET PG 2022 exam. Hence, the petitioners have sought a postponement of the NEET PG 2022 exam by 8 weeks.
