National Board of Examination for Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has issued an important notification pertaining to the NEET MDS 2022 examination. The notification has been published on the official website natboard.edu.in. Accordingly, the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) MDS 2022 examination has been postponed with no further dates announced. This would allow for the extension of the cut-off date for completion of the internship to meet the eligibility requirements, as was demanded by BDS students. A new date for conducting this entrance exam will be announced soon, on the official portal.
When was NEET MDS 2022 initially scheduled?
Initially, after much deliberation and discussion, the NEET MDS 2022 examination was scheduled to be conducted on March 06, 2022. The postgraduate entrance test in the field of dentistry was going to be organized in the computer-based format, at selected centers across the country. Only those candidates who fulfilled the age-related, educational, and internship criteria were allowed to appear for this exam.
The COVID-19 pandemic created a delay in the conduction of final-year university exams. This invariably, caused a delay in the internship period, deeming candidates ineligible to apply for NEET MDS 2022. They would have to wait an entire year to give the entrance exam. Reason for NEET MDS 2022 Postponement Explained
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) has decided to postpone the NEET MDS 2022 examination for one pertinent reason i.e., extending the cut-off date for completing the internship. By doing so, the previously ineligible candidates would get the opportunity to complete their internship on time and appear for the exam. The cut-off date has been extended to July 31, 2022, and accordingly, clauses 4.2 and 4.5 have been revised.

Application Link for NEET MDS 2022 Reopened
NBEMS had invited applications from eligible candidates for NEET MDS 2022 up to January 24, 2022. However, with this revised cut-off date for internship completion, the application link will be reopened in the next few days. The revised schedule will also be updated in due course of time, on the official websites natboard.edu.in and nbe.edu.in.
