Good news for medical aspirants, who passed class 12th with Biology as additional subject, as they are eligible for NEET. Last year, Medical Council of India (MCI) shook the nation by pronouncing students with additional biology subject ineligible for National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test. However, protest from students and medical experts moved HC to pass interim order and allow all the candidates to appear for the examination.
Due to interim order, candidates were able to apply for the examination. However, since then a case was being fought in Delhi High Court to consider additional biology as valid subject to determine the eligibility of a student. While MCI was adamant to bar open school candidates, 25 years old candidates, and candidates with biology as additional subject but the persistent efforts of parents, students, and educationist Dr. Amit Gupta has made it all possible.
Until now, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) was conducting NEET under the guidance of MCI. Both the bodies have been much criticized for sudden change in eligibility criteria last year. Also, the Council is struggling for its own existence as the National Medical Commission Bill (NMC Bill) tightening the grip.
Hopefully, the future medical aspirants will not have to suffer, as National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the examination from now. As per the details so far, NTA will conduct the NEET 2019 twice. First the examination will be held in the month of February and May 2019.
The February examination will be held from February 01 to 17 and the application form for it will release on October 01, 2018. The last date to apply for the exam will be October 31, 2018. Candidates interested to appear for the NEET May 2019 exam, will be able to apply in the March and the exam will take the exam between May 12 to 26, 2019.
Now that the verdict has been announced, it is expected that for NEET 2019 open school and candidates with additional will be able to apply. Few media reports are suggesting NTA will not conduct examination twice but official notification regarding the same has not been released.

Also, let us know your point of view. Is it right to let every one appear for the examination? Or should there be age limit, removal of open school students, and students with additional biology? Speak out your mind in the comment section below.
Every body should have the right to appear for Neet
If any uneducated or illetrate person can become leader,
CM of the state,MP or MLA in state why any student who has passed his 12th from any board like Cbse,Nios,Additional biology,or any specific board should be given the chance to prove themselves on national level platform
Here we all are equal and should have equality.
That single 12th board can’t decide the future of the students
So,plzz my request is..
Give them the chance to fulfill their dreams.
S according to me students with additional bio subject shld not be allowed and 12 percentage shld be taken
First remove all reservation and let the seats to be distributed on the basis of merit.
I think we should consider the quality of doctors instead of quantity .and this will only increase the quantity not quality .we should concern more about quality
Everybody should appreciate the court decision
Everybody should appreciate the court decision
I didn’t understood what is the additional biology about
We need NEET twice a year
Thats good for every one
No probkem in that
Age restriction should be removed and 5 attempt should be apply so that one can apply for neet after 25 of age.
There must be only three attempts and age limit also so that young student can enjoy exam.
Should be conducted Twice a year
After final announcement of NTA of conducting twice neet exam n we are sacrificing our year to prepare for that….then u can’t change your sentence for your perspective. Don’t cheat with students who are just few steps near of their dreams.
We need neet twice in a year
I think NIOS should not be allowed to appear in the examinations and age limit should be there…
Everything is ok according to the news provided. There is just one problem, the reservation for backward categories. According to me, for the purpose of admission or any other things, merit of the students should be taken into consideration rather than their category. It it unfair to judge a student on the account of his or her cast. Instead of that judge them on their merit. Thats my request.
