Good news for medical aspirants, who passed class 12th with Biology as additional subject, as they are eligible for NEET. Last year, Medical Council of India (MCI) shook the nation by pronouncing students with additional biology subject ineligible for National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test. However, protest from students and medical experts moved HC to pass interim order and allow all the candidates to appear for the examination.

Due to interim order, candidates were able to apply for the examination. However, since then a case was being fought in Delhi High Court to consider additional biology as valid subject to determine the eligibility of a student. While MCI was adamant to bar open school candidates, 25 years old candidates, and candidates with biology as additional subject but the persistent efforts of parents, students, and educationist Dr. Amit Gupta has made it all possible.

Until now, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) was conducting NEET under the guidance of MCI. Both the bodies have been much criticized for sudden change in eligibility criteria last year. Also, the Council is struggling for its own existence as the National Medical Commission Bill (NMC Bill) tightening the grip.

Hopefully, the future medical aspirants will not have to suffer, as National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the examination from now. As per the details so far, NTA will conduct the NEET 2019 twice. First the examination will be held in the month of February and May 2019.

The February examination will be held from February 01 to 17 and the application form for it will release on October 01, 2018. The last date to apply for the exam will be October 31, 2018. Candidates interested to appear for the NEET May 2019 exam, will be able to apply in the March and the exam will take the exam between May 12 to 26, 2019.

Now that the verdict has been announced, it is expected that for NEET 2019 open school and candidates with additional will be able to apply. Few media reports are suggesting NTA will not conduct examination twice but official notification regarding the same has not been released.

The official notification for NEET 2019 will be announced soon and all the confusion regarding the examination will be removed. Until then, the candidates are advised to keep on preparing for the exam. We will update you with all the important information.

Also, let us know your point of view. Is it right to let every one appear for the examination? Or should there be age limit, removal of open school students, and students with additional biology? Speak out your mind in the comment section below.

Its good to have NEET twice a year as its not an easy one. Also seats should be increased in AIQ as well as in state quota, the country is in need of doctors.

  2. Sahiti says:

They should keep the neet exam twice a year

Ok it’s a good news for nios students…. heartiest congratulations to them and what about the cbse private candidates who reappear in their class 12 board exam….in 2019 will they allowed for neet or not….please answer what is decision of court….

It’s too much of educational indecisiveness without thinking of implementation in all parts of India.

Certification from all types validated once should be continued for ever like NIOS.Rather learner should be promoted to employability level.
All courses should be open for all learners depending upon their interest.e.g. MBBS with economics/ commerce should be allowed.
No age limit impose,I’m at 58 learning too.
Wealthy people can’t understand, but PM rightly mentioned business of “pakoda”,it requires knowledge, experience, business tech iques, marketing & sales.
Shortening of course for REQUIRING”one is okay, but single& sole responsibility should be carried by student by self.
Online tests are also okay, but cyber security with Https & coding is necessary.
First lesson we need to learn is” not to lie at any cost”,rest will follow.

Everyone has a dream , and for those who are working hard for it no matter what the life throws at them , the circumstances and sometimes terrible life events it’s obviously not a first choice for any student to join a open board or nios , but give a minute of thought for those who goes through such times, its very painful that mci or other government bodies passes such harsh decisions for poor candidates , they should not make any such criteria’s keeping all this in there mind that studing for there dream to become a doctor is everyone’s rite, no matter where they come from or what there economical conditions are , we all know even in regular school students from cbse board and other regular board, there is such thing called (?( non attending ) where students usually prepare them in competitive institutions and they just give practicals and exams not attending regular classes at all , so it these students are allowed or soo called regular students then why nios and open board students has to suffer? My question to anyone who can answer .

If a student crack neet exam. So,why the bullshit mci have any problem.i think they lost their faith on themselves. #additionalbio# #openschooling#

Conducting NEET twice a year is a welcome decision….Any one who can crack NEET should be given admission to MBBS,after all,NEET is not an easy nut to crack, and if anyone has scored good in it,must be a competent enough to complete MbBS, be it if he is from Open school or Close school or he has studied under street lamp, shouldn’t matter…Also there should be no upper age limit…
After all, students who take admissions in dummy schools and spend 2-4 years in coaching classes of Kota or Narayana/Chaitanya are given admission to MBBS,why should others be barred?
Only dissecting one cockroach, doing prism practicals and doing titrations doesn’t ensure one to become a Top surgeon Or a Rocket scientist..

Sir,I didn’t understand what is the additional biology tell me about that

  10. Pooja Malhotra says:

Eveyone has right to learn. Please remove all these boundations for the learner’s. Remove the upper age limit and reservation. Every person from U.R. category is not rich and every reserved category person is not poor. Merit should be considered for selection procedure.

Age limit should be not there…anyone willing medical can ans the neet examination 😊

  12. Nabha Pande says:

Great news…. I think anyone and everyone has right to education… there should not be any rules and regulations regarding age and attempts for giving medical entrance…because no one knows maybe someone from open school or with one biology subject or with minimum 2 medical attempts in a year might be the world’s biggest doctor… because opportunities are the stepping stone towards success..
    Thank you😊

  13. Shreya says:

Yess age restrictions should be put and also students with additional bio sub and from open school should not be allowed to give neet

  14. Archana says:

Students of IB who drop physics as HL subject should be allowed to give Neet. By not allowing them to appear for Neet is really demoralising for them. Their chances of studying in India are lost becoz of this. Please someone help us. Guide us as to whom to go to

  15. Alok says:

Every body should have the right to appear for Neet
If any uneducated or illetrate person can become leader,
CM of the state,MP or MLA in state why any student who has passed his 12th from any board like Cbse,Nios,Additional biology,or any specific board should be given the chance to prove themselves on national level platform
Here we all are equal and should have equality.
That single 12th board can’t decide the future of the students
    So,plzz my request is..
Give them the chance to fulfill their dreams.
