NEET 2019 In December 2018? Will NTA Hold First NEET In December?

Reading Time: 3 mins read

Until a few weeks, NEET 2019 was expected to be held in May 2019. Now talks of the exam being held in December 2018 is being speculated. Let us see what is happening.

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test is one of the three medical entrance exams, for admission to MBBS in India. The other two are AIIMS and JIMPER. NEET is the largest medical entrance exam in terms of number of applicants.

Restored in the year 2016, NEET is now the only medical entrance exam in India which forms the basis for admission in all MBBS and BDS colleges in India, except AIIMS and JIPMER. This makes it a really important milestone in every medical aspirant’s life. Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has, for a long time, been in charge of conducting it.

In the month of November in 2017, a press release by the Press Information Bureau (PIB) shook up all medical aspirants. As per the press release, a new exam conducting body was approved by the Cabinet. The new body goes by the name of National Testing Agency (NTA).

The agency will take over functions of CBSE in conducting entrance exams including JEE Main, NEET, JNVST, UGC NET. It will also do it for AICTE.

So with the shocker of the fact that a new body will conduct the exam, bigger surprises were in line. Read the report below.

NEET 2019: Syllabus, Preparation, Books, Exam Pattern, NTA or CBSE

The third point in the “Features” list says clearly that “The entrance examinations will be conducted in online mode at least twice a year, thereby giving adequate opportunity to candidates to bring out their best.”

This brings us to two major changes. First that NTA will hold entrance exams in online mode. And second, that these exams will be held twice a year.

So conclusion number 1: NTA will hold NEET twice a year. Also, it will hold exam in online mode.

But before you jump to any conclusions, the question arises, from when? In other words, when will the aforementioned agency be formed and start holding exams?

It was quickly clarified in 2018 that all exams were still being held by CBSE only. However now entrance exams 2018 are over. Students have started studying for NEET 2019 and other CBSE entrance exams. Overall 40 lakh candidates around the country have set their sights on next year’s admissions. And they are all asking the same question: “Will CBSE conduct NEET 2019 or NTA?”

There is no concrete answer to it, except a response to an RTI. See this below.

NEET 2019: Syllabus, Preparation, Books, Exam Pattern, NTA or CBSE

This brings us to conclusion 2: Official statement is that it is envisaged (predicted / anticipated / expected) that NTA will conduct exams from 2019 onwards.

As can be seen the authorities are not confirming any timeline. However it is now brought to notice that exams will be held, not before, 2019.

This brings us to the news that started frantic discussions across the country. A news stating that NEET will be held in December 2018.

NEET 2019: Syllabus, Preparation, Books, Exam Pattern, NTA or CBSE

The news says that National Testing Agency will hold NEET in December 2018. This ought to be the first time that NTA will hold NEET. It is given as an extrapolation of the fact that NEET will be held twice in a year. In other words, NEET 2019 first exam will be held in December 2018 and second time it will be held in May 2019. But that is all as per a news report.

So conclusion number 3 is that news reports are saying that NEET 2019 will be held in December 2018. But there is no official data about it.

Whether NEET will be held in December 2018 has no official reports to back it. But if it does, then what? Will a student who has completed class 12 in 2018 be eligible, or one who will finish in 2019 be eligible?

Another question is that whether NEET 2019 in December 2018 be held in online mode or offline mode? That is, if exam is held in December 2018.

If NEET 2019 is held in December 2018, then will it be on another exam pattern or syllabus?

All in all, several questions arise. On one hand, students are running around wondering what will happen in NEET 2019. On the other hand the second worry is whether it will happen in December 2018 or not, and if yes, then what?

NEET 2019, whether it will be in December 2018 or May 2019, will be a major exam for all medical aspirants. It will have complete physics, chemistry, biology syllabus of class 11 and 12. It is for the hard working and never-give-up ones. So are you ready?

Let us know your views and conclusions. Do you think NEET 2019 will be held in December 2018?
