NAS 2021 is going to be a large-scale survey that will try to find the efficacy of school education. The findings that will be gained from this survey will help to bring inventions in the education policies, teaching, and learning practices.
NAS surveys the school-system by analyzing various metrics across several elements viz. pupils, teachers, and the school in its entirety. For pupils, teachers, and schools questionnaires from three segments are examined. For the pupils, the questions will focus on family background, home facilities, learning during the pandemic, etc. Similarly, for the teachers, the questions will focus on school infrastructure, study materials, professional development, etc. In the same way, the headteachers of the schools will be asked questions about staff availability, teaching during the pandemic, COVID-19 measures, etc.
NAS is conducted every three years. The last test was conducted in 2017 after which it was scheduled for 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 situation, the survey had to be postponed till 2021 and will now be held tomorrow. For the first time, classes 3, 5, and 8 of the private schools have been included in the NAS 2021 exam. According to the concerned officials, this survey is crucial to assess the learning interruptions and the new methods that came about during the COVID-19 pandemic.
