The Directorate of Educational Research and Training (DERT), Government of Meghalaya has released the notification for Meghalaya Teacher Eligibility Test (MTET) 2021. MTET 2021 will be held on August 28, 2021. The application form to apply for TET 2021 will be available from June 10, 2021, at 10 am. The last date to apply is decided as July 10, 2021, till 5:00 pm. The online application forms will be available at megeducation.gov.in in the said duration.
The announcement for Meghalaya TET 2021 was made via an official notice on April 27, 2021. The notice reads “applications are invited for citizens of India and who are permanent residents of Meghalaya, desirous of applying for appointment as Elementary school teachers (Class 1 to 8) and for teachers appointed to teach class 1 to 8 after NCTE notification dated 23.08.2010 for applying the Meghalaya Teacher Eligibility Test 2021″.

To qualify this state-level teaching eligibility test, candidates have to secure minimum 60% marks (55% marks for SC / ST / OBC / DA). The candidates who qualify MTET 2021 are given the certificate. Candidates who have MTET Certificate can easily be recruited in any school of Meghalaya for teaching profile.
NCTE, as per its latest update, has extended the validity period for the Meghalaya TET certificate. Now, candidates can use their Meghalaya TET certificate for a period of lifetime. Earlier, the certificate was valid up to 07 years from the declaration of result.
As per the exam held in the last session, the pattern of the test followed was that the exam is an offline exam. The duration of the test is 2 hours and 30 mins. The paper is held in English language, except language paper. All the questions are MCQ type.
Paper – I will be for a candidate who wants to be a teacher for classes I-V. Paper-II will be for candidates who want to be a Teacher for classes VI-VIII. Applicants who want to be a teacher either for Classes I-V or for Classes VI-VIII will have to appear in both papers (i.e. paper I & II).
In paper 1 questions come from Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I (Khasi/Garo/Assamese/Bengali/Hindi/Nepali), Language II(English), Maths and Environmental Studies. This paper has 150 questions of total 150 marks.
In paper 2 questions come from Child Development and Pedagogy(Compulsory), Language I (Compulsory) (Khasi/Garo/Assamese/Bengali/Hindi/Urdu/Mizo/ Nepali), Language II (Compulsory) (English), Mathematics and Science teacher: Mathematics and Science OR For Social Studies teacher Social studies. This paper has 150 questions of total 150 marks.
