Maharashtra State Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad has confirmed on Twitter that all Class 12 students will be passed on the basis of marks secured in Internal Assessments. Maharashtra recently cancelled the Class 12 board exams following suit with the Central Board of Secondary Education. As per reports, the HSC Class 12 Result 2021 will soon be announced by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education.
While latest media reports state that the Maharashtra government has authorised the state education board to pass all Class 12 students on the basis of marks obtained in the Internal Assessments held during the year, state education minister Varsha Gaikwad tweeted yesterday to break the news to the public.
The Minister’s tweet from the official Twitter handle yesterday in Marathi can be roughly translated as – Considering the growing infection of Corona and the threat it poses to the health of students, in the academic year 2020-2021, government order regarding the cancellation of 12th Standard examination was issued today. The Minister attached a copy of the GR along with her tweet.
“Following the cancellation of state board exams for Std XIIth due to the pandemic, the government has permitted the board to pass ALL Std XIIth students based on internal assessments. Here’s the copy of the GR on Maharashtra HSC Result 2021” – the state education minister said.
From the beginning, the Maharashtra State Education Minister was in favour of scrapping the Class 12 board exams citing significant health risk to students and exam conducting officials alike amidst growing cases of COVID-19 casualties. Earlier, in a high profile meeting attended by Union Ministers, State Education Minister and other stakeholders, Maharashtra and Delhi notably opposed the decision to conduct Class 12 board exams. Although the CBSE at first proposed to conduct the exams in home centres for a reduced number of subjects and exam duration, in due course of time, the central board decided to cancel the exams. Following in the same footsteps, most states in India have also cancelled the Class 12 board exams save the likes of Assam and Chhattisgarh.
While the state government of Maharashtra has also cancelled the Class 10 board exams, popular media sources have reported that schools in Maharashtra have been directed to submit the results to the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education by the last day of June 2021. On the other hand, the Class 10 results are expected to release by July 15, 2021. Candidates are advised to remain vigilant on the official website for further updates.
