Maharashtra Master of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (MHMCT) Common Entrance Test (CET) will be held on May 16, 2020. The exam will be held in online mode for admission to first year of two year full time post graduate degree course in hotel management and catering technology (M.HMCT). The exam date has been announced through a notification at mahacet.org.

State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell will release information brochure and application form at mahacet.org, for the exam, inviting candidates to apply for the same.

Last year the exam was held on May 18. The State CET Cell had in that year released the registrations on February 10, and closed them on March 10. Hall ticket had been issued on May 10. Result was announced on May 30.

Application fee will be separate for first, open category candidates from Maharashtra state, outside Maharashtra state (OMS), and second  candidates of Backward Class Categories [SC, ST, VJ/DT- NT(A), NT(B), NT(C), NT(D), OBC, SBC and SEBC] and Persons with Disability Candidates belonging to Maharashtra State only.

This exam tests candidates on their knowledge of food and beverages operations, food production, rooms division, english, hospitality industry related topics like tourism, hotel and restaurant brands and segments , airlines, hospitality terms, hospitality related organizations and regulatory bodies. It is a one hour long test in English language.

All government aided institutes offering MHMCT course, as well as all un-aided MHMCT institutes covered as per the act (Maharashtra Unaided Private Professional Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admissions and Fees) Act, 2015) will offer admission to the masters program on the basis of this exam only.

Candidates who have passed Bachelor Degree in Hotel Management and Catering Technology (BHMCT) with at least 50% will be eligible to apply. Candidates belonging to backward class categories with 45% will also be eligible. And candidates in their final year can also appear in the exam.
