The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) and the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) have released the schedules for the Madhyamik (class 10) and HS (class 12) board examinations. Madhyamik examinations will begin from March 07, 2022 and end by March 16, 2022. On the other hand, the HS examinations will begin on April 02, 2022 and end on April 20, 2022. The timings for the Madhyamik examinations will be from 11:45 PM to 3:00 PM while that for the HS is 10:00 AM to 1:15 PM.

As per the Madhyamik examination schedule for 2022, the examination for the first language will be held on March 07 while the second languages will take place on March 08. This will be followed by Geography on March 09, History on March 11, Life Science on March 12, Mathematics on March 14, Physical Science on March 15 and optional elective subjects on March 16.

The first languages include Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Modern Tibetan, Nepali, Odia, Gurmukhi (Punjabi), Telugu, Tamil, Urdu, and Santali. For the second languages, the first category is English in case any language other than English is offered as the first language. Other than that, the second language will be Bengali or Nepali, if English is the first language. The dates for the Physical Education & Social Service and Work Education are going to be announced later.

Examination for shorthand and typewriting are going to be held in Siliguri and Kolkata only. However, the venue and date for the same will be announced later. Moreover, examination in sewing and needlework will be for 4 hours and 15 minutes. The theoretical portion of Music Vocal and Music Instrumental will be held for 2 hours and 15 minutes. Details regarding the practical examination will be notified in due time.

Board President Kalyanmoy Gangopadhyay announced the examination dates on Monday. In 2021, the board examinations had to be canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, for the upcoming session, the exams are proposed to be held in offline mode. As per reports, the HS examinations will be held at the home centres but the Madhyamik exams will be conducted across the different venues. As per the officials of both the Boards, there are no plans of holding semester-based examinations like CBSE and CISCE. According to the HS Council President Chiranjib Bhattachrya, other boards have the system of continuous evaluation that WBBSE and WBCHSE lack. Hence, the board examinations will be held in the way they were conducted previously.
